He shared: \u201cWe had a call from the doctors and I\u2019ve got end stage liver disease.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is no hope of my liver getting better and he said I wouldn\u2019t be having this call with you if I thought you could make it through the next four or five years.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re sending me for liver transplant assessment, so yeah.\u201d<\/p>\n
He continued: \u201cThe way I look at it is I\u2019m healthy now, hopefully I will remain healthy all the way up until I\u2019ll get a call and go in for surgery and then I wake up and I\u2019ll be healthier.\u201d<\/p>\n

End-stage liver disease is the final stage of liver damage, when your liver is damaged beyond repair due to chronic liver disease or acute liver failure. According to the NHS, patients with end-stage liver disease can also develop kidney failure.<\/p>\n
Following Sam opening up about his diagnosis, the official account for NHS Organ Donation wrote: \u201cYou may have seen in tonight\u2019s episode of #madeinchelsea, that one of the cast members Sam Vanderpump needs an organ transplant. Our thoughts are with Sam and his family as they face this news. We hope that his courage in speaking out will offer inspiration to others.<\/p>\n
\u201cSadly, thousands of people are currently waiting for a life-saving transplant because not enough people agree to donate their organs.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Sam revealed he was just 24 hours from death after his vital organs failed following his battle with sepsis.<\/p>\n

“Over Christmas, we went through a bit of an episode together where I got really, really ill,” he shared.<\/p>\n
“I got an infection due to a genetic disease I\u2019ve got, which led to sepsis and it ended up quite bad. I was in hospital and it was a close call; I could have died.”<\/p>\n
His ordeal began by experiencing severe back pain and dehydration, which he mistook as flu-like symptoms, but his condition rapidly deteriorated, leading his girlfriend to \u201csave his life\u201d by calling an ambulance.<\/p>\n
Doctors had shared their concerns that if he\u2019d been admitted to hospital just 24 hours later, it may have been too late, and his kidneys and liver could have begun to fail.<\/p>\n
