We know Sony\u2019s handheld accessory PS Portal<\/strong><\/a> has proven an enormous success, with approximately 5% of the PS5\u2019s install base<\/a> estimated to have purchased the Remote Play streaming device in the US.<\/p>\n

Well, it could be about to get even better, assuming screenshots from Reddit<\/a> are accurate.<\/p>\n

A couple of pictures doing the rounds show images of Deliver At All Costs<\/a> and The Outer Worlds 2\u2019s<\/a> store pages, where it says: \u201cPre-order to stream and play instantly at release on PS Portal or PS5 (only with PS Plus Premium<\/a>).\u201d<\/p>\n

We haven\u2019t been able to replicate the text on the PS Store<\/strong><\/a> for ourselves, but if it\u2019s accurate it would indicate further improvements to Sony\u2019s cloud streaming solution.<\/p>\n

At the moment, you can stream select games directly to your PS5 with PS Plus Premium, as well as titles from the PS Plus Game Catalogue to your PS Portal.<\/p>\n

The wording here suggests that Sony is plotting a future update where you\u2019ll be able to pre-order and purchase games from the PS Store and stream them directly to your PS Portal, without ever needing to turn your PS5 on at all.<\/p>\n

Obviously, the quality of your streaming experience will vary, but we\u2019ve generally found Sony\u2019s solution to be surprisingly competent.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s interesting how the Japanese giant appears to be quietly iterating on this part of its business.<\/p>\n

The company clearly recognises the long-term importance of cloud streaming, but it\u2019s not trying to force the issue at all. It\u2019s just steadily improving on its solution, putting it in a good position to pounce should widespread adoption of this feature ever emerge.<\/p>\n
