The ‘spooky’ Sheffield house is part-horror, part-fundraiser<\/p>\n

The owners of ‘Sheffield’s most haunted house’ have given YorkshireLive a sneak peek at their “spookified” home<\/a> they created to raise money for a charity “close to the family’s heart”.<\/p>\n

Sheffield<\/a> mum, Gemma, explained she had always “decked out” her home on the corner of Weakland Crescent, Sheffield<\/a>, for Halloween. Yet, this year she plans for the experience to be “extra special” by using the “House of Horror” as an opportunity to fundraise for Talbot Specialist School <\/a>in Sheffield.<\/a><\/p>\n

Gemma’s youngest son has complex additional needs, so as a thank-you to the school for “all their incredible work” Gemma decided to use the haunted house raise money for the associated charity Friends of Talbot School.<\/p>\n

Gemma said: “I have always done trick-or-treating bits with the kids on this close. We are such a tight community, and even though my three sons are well into their teens, I never really stopped.<\/p>\n

“This year, someone asked me if I was decorating and I really wanted to but I also had the idea to turn it into a fundraising opportunity for my youngest son’s school.”<\/p>\n

The house has been “decked to the nines” with spooky decorations<\/a> – including mannequins of cult-classics such as ‘The Nun’ and Steven King’s ‘Pennywise’.<\/p>\n

The hardest part, according to Gemma, was fitting temporary scaffolding to the house in order to accommodate a 5ft skeleton torso. Gemma said: “Local scaffolders from Shaw Scaffolding donated half a day of their time to come and set the thing up. I drew it out, and then they all helped me piece it together and get the Skeleton up there.<\/p>\n

“Obviously, the wind has been a bit of a menace, but it’s totally worth it to put a smile on the local kids’ faces.”<\/p>\n

So far, the house has raised over \u00a3100 with Gemma predicting that they will raise a lot more over the Halloween weekend.<\/p>\n

Gemma said: “The main event will be held on Friday (October 31) from 4.30 pm; however, we are also running a special night on Thursday (October 30) so that children who may struggle with sensory issues can trick-or-treat in a bit more of a relaxed environment.”<\/p>\n
