{"id":535967,"date":"2025-10-29T18:30:16","date_gmt":"2025-10-29T18:30:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/535967\/"},"modified":"2025-10-29T18:30:16","modified_gmt":"2025-10-29T18:30:16","slug":"john-terry-exposes-chelsea-captaincy-secret-he-would-love-to-see-more-of-from-reece-james","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/535967\/","title":{"rendered":"John Terry exposes Chelsea captaincy secret he would love to see more of from Reece James"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Chelsea legend John Terry has shared some insight from how he used to captain the side, and has implored the Blues to do more of the same with Reece James now in the role.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There was some criticism of the decision made by Mauricio Pochettino to name a then 23-year-old James as the club captain, however he has put in the work to prove himself in the role.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thechelseachronicle.com\/news\/john-obi-mikel-has-noticed-one-thing-about-reece-james-recently-at-chelsea-that-he-really-likes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">John Obi Mikel recently praised James\u2019 leadership skills<\/a> despite defeat to Sunderland, after the former midfielder has previously mentioned it as a criticism of his game.<\/p>\n<p>If he is looking for any inspiration, there isn\u2019t anyone better than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thechelseachronicle.com\/tag\/john-terry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Terry<\/a>, after his near 20-year career at Stamford Bridge saw him lead the Blues to nearly every trophy on offer.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"698\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/GettyImages-2169736729-1024x698.jpg\" alt=\"John Terry speaks at the FIFAe World Cup featuring Football Manager - Day 4\" class=\"wp-image-320491\" \/>Photo by Alex Livesey \u2013 FIFA\/FIFA via Getty ImagesJohn Terry exposes captaincy secret he wants Chelsea to use more<\/p>\n<p>The Englishman seems to have admitted he enjoyed playing mind games before games even started, stating that when playing away from home, he liked to upset the normality of proceedings by changing ends.<\/p>\n<p>Terry also encouraged whoever is captain for the Blues against Wolves in the League Cup tonight to follow suit.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cI\u2019m not sure who\u2019s captain tonight, but little bit of an insight from me. Going away to Wolves tonight, they\u2019re obviously under pressure, I would be there as captain tonight, when you do the coin toss, speaking to the ref and going \u2018you know what, you can have kick off, we\u2019re gonna have the ball\u2019. Tossing the coin, but you\u2019ve already made an agreement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not sure whether that can happen nowadays, but used to back in the day.
