Officers descended on a Metrolink tram stop in east Manchester<\/a> as part of a major operation.<\/p>\n

Greater Manchester Police<\/a> attended Clayton<\/a> Hall on Wednesday night (October 29) as part of efforts to boost safety across the region’s transport network.<\/p>\n

While at the tram stop, on Ashton<\/a> New Road in Clayton, officers spotted a man riding an off-road motorbike.<\/p>\n

He was searched by police, who discovered him in possession of Class A drugs.<\/p>\n

The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs and driving offences.<\/p>\n

Officers were in attendance as part of the TravelSafe Partnership, with GMP vowing to continue to work across Greater Manchester’s transport network to keep passengers safe.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for GMP Manchester North wrote on Facebook: “Officers from GMP Transport Unit deployed to Clayton Hall Metrolink<\/a> Stop for a TravelSafe Partnership operation last night (Wednesday).<\/p>\n

“The operation involved specialist officers working alongside TfGM and Metrolink targeting anyone involved in criminality or antisocial behaviour on the transport network.<\/p>\n

“Our team conduct operations like this across the entire Bee Network including buses, interchanges and the Metrolink system ensuring that we respond to your concerns and keep the transport network safe.<\/p>\n

“One male adult was detained near to the Metrolink stop whilst riding an off road motorbike. He was also found in possession of Class A controlled drugs resulting in his arrest for possession of drugs and driving offences.<\/p>\n

“Our team will continue to focus on your priorities and robustly target anyone involved in crime or anti-social behaviour on the transport network.<\/p>\n
