Since the exhibit opened this spring set to run through mid-November, it has been selling out. (Admission is still possible by becoming a V&amp;A member.) And that is typical of the quality of exhibits currently on view in the museum (in another opulent theme, the exhibition of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vam.ac.uk\/exhibitions\/marie-antoinette?srsltid=AfmBOoqzWmtlMVtBfNqBuOw7w80kGUw5EHA_N7XCToHjhjHXfDLesLJU\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"color-link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.vam.ac.uk\/exhibitions\/marie-antoinette?srsltid=AfmBOoqzWmtlMVtBfNqBuOw7w80kGUw5EHA_N7XCToHjhjHXfDLesLJU\" style=\"background-color:inherit\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.vam.ac.uk\/exhibitions\/marie-antoinette?srsltid=AfmBOoqzWmtlMVtBfNqBuOw7w80kGUw5EHA_N7XCToHjhjHXfDLesLJU\" aria-label=\"Marie Antoinette Style\">Marie Antoinette Style<\/a> running through March nearby) and the energy of the city overall. <\/p>\n<p>The Manchester tiara in the Cartier Exhibition Pat London&#8217;s V&amp;A.<\/p>\n<p>Victoria and Albert Museum<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s always a lot going on in London and this fall is particularly vibrant, especially for fans of art and fashion, theater and restaurants. New restaurants and resurrected classics have either recently opened or are about to emerge, exhibits ranging from legends in fashion and music and classical or edgy art are on display. Another reason to become a V&amp;A member is to gain access to the new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vam.ac.uk\/exhibitions\/david-bowie-centre?srsltid=AfmBOooaGeyMSOGHNDZ66Vf7-D75z2dq-LbVWWRto_hhYkLab3Vb8Fc4\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"color-link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.vam.ac.uk\/exhibitions\/david-bowie-centre?srsltid=AfmBOooaGeyMSOGHNDZ66Vf7-D75z2dq-LbVWWRto_hhYkLab3Vb8Fc4\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.vam.ac.uk\/exhibitions\/david-bowie-centre?srsltid=AfmBOooaGeyMSOGHNDZ66Vf7-D75z2dq-LbVWWRto_hhYkLab3Vb8Fc4\" aria-label=\"David Bowie Centre\">David Bowie Centre<\/a>, the permanent archive of the late icon\u2019s vast personal collection in the museum\u2019s East London annex (also sold out to the general public.) The <a href=\"https:\/\/archeslondonbridge.co.uk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"color-link\" title=\"https:\/\/archeslondonbridge.co.uk\/\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/archeslondonbridge.co.uk\/\" aria-label=\"Gianni Versace Retrospective\">Gianni Versace Retrospective<\/a> at Arches London Bridge takes visitors on a decade by decade run through the late design icon\u2019s career with 450 designs on display ranging from the safety pin dress that launched actress Elizabeth Hurley\u2019s career to outfits for Diana, Princess of Wales and the flamboyant shirt collection designed for his close friend Elton John.<\/p>\n<p>One of the 250 works of Banksy street art in the exhibition Banksy Limitless.<\/p>\n<p>Banksy Limitless<br \/>\nMust See Exhibits Around Town<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, photographer\/designer Cecil Beaton is showcased in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npg.org.uk\/whatson\/exhibitions\/2025\/cecil-beaton\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"color-link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.npg.org.uk\/whatson\/exhibitions\/2025\/cecil-beaton\/\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.npg.org.uk\/whatson\/exhibitions\/2025\/cecil-beaton\/\" aria-label=\"Cecil Beaton\u2019s Fashionable World\">Cecil Beaton\u2019s Fashionable World<\/a> which opened in early October and runs through January at the National Portrait Gallery tracing in 200 items his career from art photographs spanning the Jazz Age to the 1950s of royals and movie stars to Audrey Hepburn\u2019s Oscar winning costumes in My Fair Lady. In a completely different vein, at South Kensington\u2019s Sussex Mansions, 250 works by the witty, renegade street artist Banksy, many from private collections, are on display in the exhibition <a href=\"https:\/\/banksylimitless.com\/london\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"color-link\" title=\"https:\/\/banksylimitless.com\/london\/\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/banksylimitless.com\/london\/\" aria-label=\"Banksy Limitless\">Banksy Limitless<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A selection of dishes at the new Italian restaurant Cicoria inside London&#8217;s Royal Opera House.<\/p>\n<p>Cicoria<br \/>\nNew Restaurants<\/p>\n<p>The opera season at the Royal Opera House kicked off in September and so did a new Italian restaurant from British chef and Gordon Ramsay prot\u00e9g\u00e9 Angela Hartnett on the fifth floor. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rbo.org.uk\/visit\/eat-and-drink\/cicoria\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"color-link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.rbo.org.uk\/visit\/eat-and-drink\/cicoria\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.rbo.org.uk\/visit\/eat-and-drink\/cicoria\" aria-label=\"Cicoria\">Cicoria<\/a> is open all day for dishes such as Guinea fowl agnolotti with Lardo di Colonnata and a salad of Treviso, figs and shallots with aged balsamic, has an expansive outdoor terrace and is open for those even without opera tickets. Those perusing the art at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.somersethouse.org.uk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"color-link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.somersethouse.org.uk\/\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.somersethouse.org.uk\/\" aria-label=\"Somerset House,\">Somerset House,<\/a> either the classic collection at The Cortauld Gallery and the cutting edge photography exhibits currently on view, or coming in to skate at the rink in the courtyard from mid-November to mid January have a number of dining options such as the longtime favorite, seasonal ingredient-focused <a href=\"https:\/\/springrestaurant.co.uk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"color-link\" title=\"https:\/\/springrestaurant.co.uk\/\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/springrestaurant.co.uk\/\" aria-label=\"Spring\">Spring<\/a>. A new one in the complex is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arambyimad.co.uk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"color-link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.arambyimad.co.uk\/\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.arambyimad.co.uk\/\" aria-label=\"Aram\">Aram<\/a> featuring dishes from the Eastern Mediterranean and popular for breakfast and lunch with dishes such as Pasta Chicken Salad with peppers, sumac, onion and sundried tomatoes and Carrot Salad with shredded carrot, raisins, coriander, radicchio, pomegranate molasse and vinegar and oil dressing and pastries such as sticky date and cardamom cake.<\/p>\n<p>The dining room of The Lavery in South Kensington.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright Henry Bourne<\/p>\n<p>A short walk from the Banksy exhibit and the V&amp;A is the just opened second floor dining room of <a href=\"https:\/\/thelavery.co.uk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"color-link\" title=\"https:\/\/thelavery.co.uk\/\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/thelavery.co.uk\/\" aria-label=\"The Lavery\">The Lavery<\/a>, so named for its location in the Grade II listed Georgian townhouse that is the former home of Anglo-Irish painter Sir John Lavery. The room is elegant and so is the food with dishes such as Portland crab salad with shaved fennel, datterini tomato, chicory and bottarga and Wild seabass with Scottish girolle, coco beans and mojo verde. And in Covent Garden, an outpost of the Hong Kong based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cothanhrestaurant.com\/london\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"color-link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.cothanhrestaurant.com\/london\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.cothanhrestaurant.com\/london\" aria-label=\"C\u00f4 Th\u00e1nh\">C\u00f4 Th\u00e1nh<\/a> opened in mid October; the Vietnamese restaurant is chef Brian Woo\u2019s tribute to his mentor, the late street food specialist Nguy\u1ec5n Th\u1ecb Thanh, who gained fame as the Lunch Lady in the Vietnam episode of Anthony Bourdain\u2019s No Reservations. The cooking is precise and authentic and even commonly featured dishes such as b\u00fan th\u1ecbt ga n\u01b0\u1edbng (vermicelli with lemongrass roasted chicken) zing with flavor.<\/p>\n<p>The pork pie at Rosi.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a9johncarey2025<\/p>\n<p>British food isn\u2019t being left out of new openings: <a href=\"https:\/\/thebeaumont.com\/dining\/rosi\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"color-link\" title=\"https:\/\/thebeaumont.com\/dining\/rosi\/\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/thebeaumont.com\/dining\/rosi\/\" aria-label=\"Rosi\">Rosi<\/a> debuted in September in the colorful muraled room in Mayfair\u2019s Hotel Beaumont that previously housed the Colony Grill. With new chef Lisa Goodwin Allen at the helm, British classics are being reinterpreted and served in an elevated form such as a crusty rectangular pork pie ceremoniously rolled on a cart and carved tableside, Seafood Cocktail with Marie-Rose sauce, Corn-fed Chicken Diane and a classic Sunday lunch of Roast Sirloin of Beef with Yorkshire pudding, vegetables and crusty potatoes. Since the British love their desserts, there are also a rich Mayfair Millionaire Tart with salted caramel and chocolate and a fun mix your own sundae with choices of ice cream, sauce and toppings. And two other British classics are on the way: restaurateur Jeremy King who co-created The Wolseley, The Ivy, Le Caprice and the Colony Grill is reviving historic beef showcase <a href=\"https:\/\/www.simpsonsinthestrand.co.uk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"color-link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.simpsonsinthestrand.co.uk\/\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.simpsonsinthestrand.co.uk\/\" aria-label=\"Simpson\u2019s in the Strand.\">Simpson\u2019s in the Strand.<\/a> And a new version of Le Caprice is reportedly due to open led by restaurateur Richard Caring at<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/lauriewerner\/2025\/10\/24\/the-chancery-rosewood--londons-long-awaited--hotel-opens-its-doors\/\" target=\"_self\" class=\"color-link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/lauriewerner\/2025\/10\/24\/the-chancery-rosewood--londons-long-awaited--hotel-opens-its-doors\/\" data-ga-track=\"InternalLink:https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/lauriewerner\/2025\/10\/24\/the-chancery-rosewood--londons-long-awaited--hotel-opens-its-doors\/\" aria-label=\"The Chancery Rosewood.\" rel=\"noopener\"> The Chancery Rosewood.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Hotel Scene<\/p>\n<p>That hotel was the hottest luxury hotel opening of the year; others tentatively scheduled to open this year have been pushed to 2026 and it\u2019s a significant group including the Waldorf Astoria Admiralty Arch, <a href=\"https:\/\/auberge.com\/cambridge-house\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"color-link\" title=\"https:\/\/auberge.com\/cambridge-house\/\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/auberge.com\/cambridge-house\/\" aria-label=\"Cambridge House Auberge Collection\">Cambridge House Auberge Collection<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sixsenses.com\/en\/hotels-resorts\/europe\/united-kingdom\/london\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"color-link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sixsenses.com\/en\/hotels-resorts\/europe\/united-kingdom\/london\/\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.sixsenses.com\/en\/hotels-resorts\/europe\/united-kingdom\/london\/\" aria-label=\"Six Senses London\">Six Senses London<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s an incredibly exciting time for London\u2019s hospitality sector,\u201d according to Josh Novick. Vice President, Business Development &#8211; London &amp; Partners who notes that 73 hotels, of which 27% are luxury hotels, are set to open in 2026 alone. And since visitor numbers have risen 3% year after year, he doesn\u2019t think, as others have suggested, that there will be an oversupply. \u201cThe demand for quality and variety remains strong,\u201d he says. \u201cIt\u2019s also important to recognize the resilience of the luxury travel market.
