<\/p>\nEileen and Henry Lavery, from Orken Lane in Aghalee, passed away peacefully in hospital surrounded by loved ones this week.<\/p>\n
Eileen (n\u00e9e Hannon) died on Monday aged 90. <\/p>\n
Her husband died the following day at the age of 88.<\/p>\n
A joint funeral will take place at St Patrick\u2019s Church in Aghagallonon on Saturday. <\/p>\n
The funeral cortege will leave the couple\u2019s home at 9.30am before a Requiem Mass takes place at 10am. <\/p>\n
The pair, who were married for decades, have been remembered as devoted parents, grandparents and pillars of their local community.<\/p>\n
A funeral notice said they are \u201cdeeply missed by their sons Aidan, Gerard, Andrew and Barry, daughters-in-law Rosemary, Martina, Patrina and Jeanie, and their grandchildren Ryan, Niall, Ciaran, Cormac, Coilin, Owen, Ronan, Laura and Clodagh.\u201d<\/p>\n
It added: \u201cEileen and Henry will be lovingly remembered and very sadly missed by all the family. May they rest in peace.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tributes to the couple were paid on social media, with one person writing that it was \u201creally sad news that they passed hours apart\u201d, while another described it as \u201ca true everlasting love and bond\u201d.<\/p>\n
Others said it was \u201cso very hard for the family, but take comfort that they are at eternal rest together\u201d.<\/p>\n
One person paid tribute to Eileen describing her as \u201cthe sweetest lady with the biggest heart and a pleasure to nurse\u2026 the love she had for her family was unmeasurable\u201d.<\/p>\n
Another social media user wrote: \u201cSo sad, but so very sweet also \u2014 it\u2019s how I\u2019d want to go, not living a day more than the love of my life so I didn\u2019t have to miss them.\u201d<\/p>\n
Eileen is predeceased by her brother Josie and sister Phyllis, and is lovingly remembered by her surviving siblings Betty, Angela, Bernie, Teresa, Eamon and Seamus.<\/p>\n
Henry is predeceased by his brothers Willie-John, Patrick, Peter and Malachy, and his sisters Mary, Cecilia and Sarah.<\/p>\n
Family and friends will be welcomed to the couple\u2019s home from 6.30pm on Thursday and from 1.30pm on Friday.<\/p>\n
Donations have been requested for Marie Curie in lieu of flowers. <\/p>\n

A grieving friend recalled memories of the couple and their well kept garden as they passed on condolences to their four sons. <\/p>\n
\u201cSo sorry to hear the awful news about your mummy and daddy,\u201d they wrote online. <\/p>\n
\u201cAidan, Gerard, Andrew, Barry and families, my thoughts are with you all.<\/p>\n
“Fond memories of them growing up as neighbours. Eileen always had the roses and garden to perfection and Henry was never without wee Rocko.\u201d<\/p>\n
One of Eileen\u2019s carers also offered her \u201cdeepest sympathies\u201d to the family and said \u201cit was my upmost pleasure\u201d looking after her. <\/p>\n
