Scream 7’s first trailer has landed as an early treat for horror fans, giving us our first look at the return of Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott<\/a>. This time around, she’s even got company as her daughter Tatum (Isabel May) becomes part of the terror.<\/p>\n

The trailer opens with two people in Stu Macher’s old house, which has been turned into some sort of Stab immersive event. It doesn’t end well for them, of course, before the trailer focuses on Sidney’s return and Ghostface’s continued obsession with her… and now her daughter too.<\/p>\n

Watch the Scream 7 trailer above, and start counting down the days for its release in cinemas on 27 February 2026.<\/p>\n

What to Read Next<\/p>\n

The trailer also gives us our first look at Courteney Cox’s return as Gale Weathers, but unlike Sidney, Gale was also in Scream VI. We also see a brief glimpse of Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown as Chad and Mindy Meeks-Martin from the previous two movies.<\/p>\n

What we don’t get is any sense of how the new movie is going to write out Melissa Barrera’s Sam Carpenter<\/a> and Jenna Ortega’s Tara Carpenter<\/a>, who both aren’t returning. <\/p>\n

The cast also includes Joel McHale as Sidney’s husband Mark Evans, as well as the likes of Anna Camp, Mark Consuelos, Ethan Embry, Mckenna Grace and Celeste O’Connor as potential victims\/Ghostfaces for the new movie.<\/p>\n

In more surprising news, we know that Scream 7 will also, somehow, bring back David Arquette<\/a>, Matthew Lillard<\/a> and Scott Foley as Dewey, Stu Macher and Roman Bridger, respectively. They have all been killed off in the series, and it’s not clear whether it’ll be a retcon or some sort of Ghostface trick to taunt Sidney.<\/p>\n

Behind the scenes, Scream creator Kevin Williamson returned as director after taking over from original director Christopher Landon<\/a>, while Guy Busick \u2013 who co-wrote the previous two movies with James Vanderbilt \u2013 writing the script.<\/p>\n

Talking earlier this year, Busick said that there’s a “really cool reason” why Sidney is back<\/a>. “In all these movies, you have to ask, ‘Why now? What is the thing Scream is commenting on now?’ Scream is always in a conversation with the audience about the state of movies, the state of horror movies and in particular, franchises,” he explained.<\/p>\n

“There is a really specific reason why Sidney is in this movie. I will say there is a reason and we were happy with it when we cracked it.”<\/p>\n
