The seven-storey car park will have spaces for 379 cars and forms part of a \u201cmulti-modal transport hub\u201d at the planned new southern entrance to the train station.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">As well as the car park, there will be space to lock up 538 bicycles in a three-storey \u201ccycle hub\u201d. A new bus stop would be created on the A4 <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/bath-and-north-east-somerset\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Bath<\/a> Road, as well as a two-way segregated bike path and a new junction for cars to get into the car park.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">Applying for permission is the Bristol Temple Quarter LLP, an organisation leading the regeneration of the wider area. Councillors on <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/bristol-city-council\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Bristol City Council<\/a> \u2019s development control A committee will vote on whether to grant planning permission on Wednesday, November 5. Officers are recommending the plans be given the go-ahead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">In planning documents, architects said: \u201cThe creation of the proposed facilities at Southern Gateway forms a strategic and enabling role within the infrastructure and development framework for Bristol Temple Quarter. By relocating the surface level car parking around the station, land can be released that is critical to enable the redevelopment of the station.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">\u201cWithout relocating this parking, it will not be possible to build the new northern entrance to the station. Once construction is complete, the land can be released for future development and to provide new and improved facilities for rail users and the wider Temple Quarter area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">The site was formerly home to a KwikFit garage. The plans include a public square in between the cycle hub and the car park, with spaces for food trucks. Existing car parking to the north of the station will be removed, as part of the regeneration plans, and this will be a replacement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">A new eastern entrance to Temple Meads has also been built. This is part of the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/university-of-bristol\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">University of Bristol<\/a> \u2019s new Enterprise Campus, and will open next year.
