A person has died after being hit by a Tube train in East London this morning (Friday, October 31). Police and paramedics were called to Dagenham Heathway station<\/a> just after 11am following reports of a casualty further along the tracks.<\/a><\/p>\n A person was declared dead at the scene shortly after. Their age and gender has not been made public. The British Transport Police said the incident is not being treated as suspicious. A file will now be prepared for the coroner ahead of an inquest.<\/p>\n Transport for London<\/a> closed the station soon after the tragic incident, with Hammersmith & City services<\/a> suspended across the capital. The District line was also halted between Upminster and Barking as emergency crews recovered the body.<\/p>\n Commuters continue to face severe delays on the rest of the District line, with tickets being accepted on London Buses, the Mildmay Line, DLR, Elizabeth Line<\/a>, C2C and South Western Railway via any reasonable route.<\/p>\n A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks just after 11.10am this morning (31 October) near Dagenham Heathway underground station.<\/p>\n “Officers and paramedics attended and sadly a person was pronounced deceased. The incident is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”<\/p>\n The sad news comes just one day after a man in his 20s was stabbed during a fight<\/a> close to the station.
