The first estimates for how Predator: Badlands will perform at the box office are in from Cinelytic<\/a> (via Sci Fi & Fantasy Gazette<\/a>). Cinelytic are projecting that the Predator sequel will ultimately earn $99.1 million at the domestic box office and $154.8 million internationally, giving it a worldwide total box office of $253.9 million.<\/p>\n

Digging into the figures, Cinelytic are estimating that it will earn a domestic total of between $48.7 million and $189.2 million and internationally, between $76.1 million and $295.6 million. They expect Predator: Badlands will earn somewhere in the middle of that.<\/p>\n

Rumours are that Predator: Badlands has a budget of $100 million \u2013 the highest unadjusted budget for any Predator film. So, where does the Predator: Badlands box office stack up with the previous films? It would be the highest-grossing Predator\/AvP film, but if we look at the adjusted for inflation figures, it does surpass every film apart from the original Predator and 2004\u2019s Alien vs Predator.<\/p>\n

The confirmed PG-13\/12A rating is a critical factor and will undoubtedly help with the box office totals, as it did for AvP. We\u2019ll see many more estimates come out from other companies in the coming days. Ultimately, early estimates suggest Predator: Badlands is positioned to be a major financial success for the franchise, but it will need to hold strong against the wildly different projections to clear its high production cost.
