A Birmingham pub owner called on customers to help the island of Jamaica with a touching gesture.<\/p>\n

Hurricane Melissa is the most powerful storm to hit the island in modern history and the death toll currently stands at 19.<\/p>\n

Communities and neighbourhoods have been demolished by the tropical cyclone and one bar is seeking to help with donations.<\/p>\n

Formerly Pig & Tail, Temper & Brown opened in August last year, under the ownership of Roifield Brown.<\/p>\n

A British-Jamaican, Brown released a video and announced that \u00a32 from every meal purchased would go to the Hurricane Melissa Appeal.<\/p>\n

On Instagram, he said: “Jamaica is hurting right now, and like many Brummie-Jamaicans, we have family on the island.<\/p>\n

“So this devastating island has touched us personally.<\/p>\n

“Here at Temper & Brown, we’re incredibly proud of our Jamaican and West Indian roots.<\/p>\n

“We celebrate in our food and in the drink that we sell. So with that in mind, we’re asking you to help us.<\/p>\n

“What we’re going to do for the next week, for every meal that we sell, we’re going to donate \u00a32 to the Hurricane Melissa appeal.<\/p>\n

“So please come and help us to help the island of Jamaica.”<\/p>\n

Food at Temper & Brown is cooked up by Esmie\u2019s Caribbean Fusion<\/a>, a mixture of authentic dishes ranging from curry mutton to jerk chicken.<\/p>\n
