A 10-year-old boy is in hospital after been “partially impaled” on garden railings in a Liverpool suburb this afternoon (October 31).<\/p>\n
Emergency services, including police, paramedics and firefighters, were called to Wadeson Road in Walton at around 3.25pm, the Liverpool Echo reported.<\/a><\/p>\n There had been reports that a child had been injured in an accident involving his bicycle.<\/p>\n Join the Manchester Evening News <\/strong>WhatsApp<\/strong> group <\/strong>HERE<\/a><\/p>\n When the ECHO arrived at the scene, a cordon was in place at the junction of Wadeson Road and Frampton Road. According to residents, the boy was riding around a corner when he appeared to lose control of his bike and fell onto a garden fence.<\/p>\n One neighbour told the ECHO: “I was hoovering and didn’t hear anything until the police knocked on my door and asked me for my camera footage. There was police everywhere, around seven cars. It was scary.<\/p>\n “The boy was shouting ‘it’s my stomach, my stomach,’ and a neighbour came out to help him and phoned for an ambulance.”<\/p>\n Merseyside<\/a> Fire and Rescue Service confirmed crews were called at 3.22pm and arrived on scene within five minutes, sending two fire engines and a search and rescue team.<\/p>\n A spokesperson said: “Fire crews have been called to assist North West Ambulance Service<\/a> (NWAS) and Merseyside Police<\/a> at an incident in Wadeson Road in Walton, Liverpool<\/a> this afternoon.<\/p>\n “Crews were alerted at 3.22pm and on scene at 3.27pm, with two fire engines and the search and rescue team in attendance.<\/p>\n “Crews arrived to find a casualty had become partially impaled on a garden railing. Crews liaised with NWAS paramedics on scene to establish the best way forward to remove the conscious and breathing casualty from the railing.<\/p>\n While the casualty was administered pain relief by a paramedic, the casualty was released from the railings and into the care of paramedics for onward transport to hospital. Crews left the scene at 3.38pm.”<\/p>\n Merseyside Police confirmed officers attended the scene to assist emergency services.<\/p>\n A spokesperson said: “We can confirm emergency services attended an accident in Walton this afternoon, Friday, October 31.<\/p>\n “At around 3.25pm North West Ambulance Service reported that a 10-year-old boy was involved in an accident while riding a pedal bike on Wadeson Road.
