There’s an argument for both sides. It really is a massive game, but particularly with the way Liverpool were defeated in midweek.

“Liverpool can’t afford another defeat and if that does happen, then the alarm bells will really start to ring. I don’t know what to expect from Liverpool, there’s part of me that thinks it can’t continue this run, because they’ve got that much quality.

“I don’t like what I’m seeing at Liverpool right now though – they’re not competing and they’re all over the place. I think Villa might take advantage of the pressure Liverpool are under. When you gamble in midweek, the one thing you don’t want is to be battered. That filters into the football club and there’ll be an expectation for them to bounce back.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if they did but I’m going to go for Villa because of the way football is, how it works sometimes, and the form that they’re in.”

Liverpool need to use Anfield’s voice to spur them on

At this point, while the form is like this, they really need to tap into using the full voice of the crowd to give them the boost they need to play better.

It should not have to be said, given that it is something which is expected when players come to Liverpool, that they are there to entertain the fans and make them believe.

This season, it feels that supporters, home and away, have been slightly let down by the performances, with some not being a good enough standard for those parting with their hard-earned money.

Villa, out of all the games coming up, should be one of the easier matches to navigate, but it is not a guarantee with this form.

There are only two things fans want on Saturday: entertainment and a win. Liverpool need to deliver that.

Liverpool need to reverse their poor form in the Premier League, but Aston Villa will offer some tough…

[8815
11844,748,393,4884,179,101,16,15
0":"post-540736","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-liverpool","8":"tag-alan-shearer","9":"tag-britain","10":"tag-england","11":"tag-great-britain","12":"tag-liverpool","13":"tag-premier-league","14":"tag-uk","15":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
