Liverpool need to reverse their poor form in the Premier League, but Aston Villa will offer some tough resistance.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Reds are desperate to string together even two wins in a row in all competitions, with their last back-to-back wins coming against Everton and Southampton in September.<\/p>\n

Arne Slot<\/a> needs to find a way to get his team out of this rut of six losses out of seven because watching teams use the same tactics every game to defeat this side is becoming incredibly frustrating.<\/p>\n

This Villa game offers a good chance to get back to normal in some respects, given they are both in similar positions in the table, and Unai Emery\u2019s team is not exactly in their usual finest form.<\/p>\n

It is a game that will mount pressure ahead of an important week for Slot\u2019s side, with Real Madrid coming to Anfield<\/a> on Tuesday and the Reds travelling to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City.<\/p>\n

Pundits have had mixed opinions on whether they will be able to turn around this sorry form against Villa, but it seems that Alan Shearer<\/a> seems convinced it will continue to be a nightmare for Liverpool<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The former Newcastle United striker believes that, despite giving the younger players a run out in the 3-0 EFL Cup loss to Crystal Palace, a defeat like that still impacts the club as much as any loss.<\/p>\n

Writing for The Metro<\/a>, Shearer believed that while there are signs that it should be a comfortable win, football does not always work that way.<\/p>\n

He explained: \u201cYou\u2019ve got one team in terrible form, losing six of their last seven, and one team in really good form winning six of their last seven. There\u2019s an argument for both sides. It really is a massive game, but particularly with the way Liverpool were defeated in midweek.<\/p>\n

\u201cLiverpool can\u2019t afford another defeat and if that does happen, then the alarm bells will really start to ring. I don\u2019t know what to expect from Liverpool, there\u2019s part of me that thinks it can\u2019t continue this run, because they\u2019ve got that much quality.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t like what I\u2019m seeing at Liverpool right now though \u2013 they\u2019re not competing and they\u2019re all over the place. I think Villa might take advantage of the pressure Liverpool are under. When you gamble in midweek, the one thing you don\u2019t want is to be battered. That filters into the football club and there\u2019ll be an expectation for them to bounce back.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt wouldn\u2019t surprise me if they did but I\u2019m going to go for Villa because of the way football is, how it works sometimes, and the form that they\u2019re in.\u201d<\/p>\n

Liverpool need to use Anfield\u2019s voice to spur them on<\/p>\n

At this point, while the form is like this, they really need to tap into using the full voice of the crowd to give them the boost they need to play better.<\/p>\n

It should not have to be said, given that it is something which is expected when players come to Liverpool, that they are there to entertain the fans and make them believe.<\/p>\n

This season, it feels that supporters, home and away, have been slightly let down by the performances, with some not being a good enough standard for those parting with their hard-earned money.<\/p>\n

Villa, out of all the games coming up, should be one of the easier matches to navigate, but it is not a guarantee with this form.<\/p>\n

There are only two things fans want on Saturday: entertainment and a win.
