Sheffield Wednesday are on the lookout for a new owner after recently being placed into administration.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Owls have suffered a torrid 2025, which has seen Dejphon Chansiri\u2019s financial mismanagement plunge them into a period of unknowns and worry.<\/p>\n

Failing to pay players on time for five of the last seven months saw top performers such as Michael Smith and Josh Windass walk out of the doors at Hillsborough for free, strengthening fellow Championship sides Preston North End and Wrexham in the process.<\/p>\n

Wednesday<\/a> were placed under five embargoes by the EFL due to Chansiri\u2019s financial woes, which limited their transfer business to loan deals for Ethan Horvath and Harry Amass. Coupled with the automatic 12-point penalty they were handed for going into administration, Championship survival already looks increasingly tough for Henrik Pedersen\u2019s side.<\/p>\n

There have been sources of positivity for the Steel City side in recent times though, mostly in the form of potential new owners who could lead them into a new era.<\/p>\n

Lee Hendrie weighs in on John McEvoy\u2019s reported Sheffield Wednesday interest<\/p>\n

U.S. billionaire John McEvoy has recently been linked<\/a> with a move to take over Wednesday, which has naturally sparked much excitement among Wednesday supporters.<\/p>\n

He is California-based and a minority shareholder in Major League Baseball\u2019s Colorado Rockies and the NHL\u2019s Nashville Predators. McEvoy also holds shares in the talent agency Various Artists, which has Sheffield-based band Reverend and the Makers on its roster.<\/p>\n

Frontman Jon McClure is a lifelong Wednesdayite and is believed to have been consulted in early discussions about a potential takeover.<\/p>\n

Speaking exclusively to Football League World with this in mind, Sky Sports pundit and former Aston Villa midfielder, Lee Hendrie, believes that McEvoy\u2019s interest is a positive thing for the Owls and would be brilliant for the club if it materialised.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou do think that hopefully this is the turning point for Sheffield Wednesday<\/a>,\u201d stated Hendrie \u201cAnd you can start looking forward.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it’s going to be tough for them this season with the point deduction, but if they’ve got someone in who really cares about the club and wants to invest, it is great news.<\/p>\n

\u201cHopefully, they can put the past away and move forward. It\u2019s really good news and I\u2019m really pleased for Sheffield Wednesday.<\/p>\n

After such a period of torment under Chansiri, Wednesday<\/a> supporters will be desperate for a fresh change and a new owner who has the club\u2019s priorities at heart.<\/p>\n

With the administrators now in control of the day-to-day running of the Owls, those who are interested in a takeover no longer need to deal with Chansiri\u2019s stubborn character during negotiations, which should make a sale a lot easier.<\/p>\n

Whilst there is a lot of promise and excitement over who Wednesday\u2019s next owner may be, the club must make sure they are thoroughly researching all potential parties.<\/p>\n
