Two dispersal orders<\/a> have been imposed on suburbs across Manchester in a bid to curb anti-social behaviour.<\/p>\n

Both orders came into force at 6.15pm yesterday (October 31) and last for 48 hours until the same time on Sunday evening.<\/p>\n

The orders were imposed on Halloween<\/a> and cover the weekend prior to Bonfire Night<\/a>, with this time of year often being a busy period for Greater Manchester’s emergency services.<\/p>\n

Greater Manchester Police<\/a> says officers are using their powers ‘to crack down on anti-social behaviour’.<\/p>\n

One order covers much of the Gorton<\/a> and Abbey Hey areas of east Manchester – between Chapman Street, Hyde<\/a> Road and Ashton<\/a> Old Road – highlighted in red on the map below.<\/p>\n

The second order covers a large area of Didsbury<\/a> – between Kingsway and Princess Road – plus Withington<\/a> and parts of Chorlton<\/a> closest to Southern Cemetery.<\/p>\n

Both orders have been issued under Section 35 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.<\/p>\n

They give officers powers to order people who are committing anti-social behaviour, or who police reasonably believe would commit anti-social behaviour, to leave the designated area for a period of time.<\/p>\n

On Facebook posts about both orders, a GMP spokesperson said: “There will be an increase in police presence in and around the area with the order running from 6.15pm today (Friday) and will last until 6.15pm on November 2, 2025.<\/p>\n
