London-bound commuters are all too familiar with the crowded conditions of the Tube. However, compared to bustling hubs like London Bridge, Waterloo and Kings Cross, some suburban stations on the London Underground<\/a> network offer a more peaceful experience, including one that sees very little footfall.<\/p>\n Tucked away in Hertfordshire on the Metropolitan line<\/a> is Croxley – one of the quietest stations on the Tube. In stark contrast to some of London’s busiest underground stops, the barriers at Croxley see very little activity – even the station’s exterior looks more like a house than a Tube stop.<\/p>\n Originally christened ‘Croxley Green’ upon its opening in 1925, the station was renamed simply ‘Croxley’ in 1949.<\/p>\n According to TfL data, from 1 January 2022 to December 2022, one of the quietest days for Croxley Station was (unsurprisingly) New Year’s Day – with just over 500 tap ins and tap outs. This is a far cry from one of London’s busiest stations, Kings Cross St Pancras, which saw 60,000 passengers entering or exiting the station.<\/p>\n On Thursday 8 December, Kings Cross’ Underground recorded over 227,000 passenger journeys in a single day – its busiest day of the year.
