The foreign ministers of the United Kingdom (UK), Germany, and Jordan have jointly called for an \u201cimmediate and unconditional ceasefire\u201d in Sudan, condemning what they described as \u201cstark and apocalyptic atrocities\u201d in the western city of El Fasher.<\/p>\n<p class=\"relative group\">Speaking at a regional security summit in the Bahraini capital, Manama, on Saturday, the three top diplomats warned that Sudan is sliding further into chaos as fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) intensifies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"relative group\">Their statement follows fresh reports of mass killings and sexual violence committed during the RSF\u2019s latest offensive to seize El Fasher \u2014 the last major city in Darfur still under government control before falling to the militia on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"relative group\">Once home to more than 260,000 people, El Fasher has become the epicentre of the conflict\u2019s humanitarian catastrophe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"relative group\">The United Nations says at least 62,000 people have fled El Fasher and surrounding villages between 26 and 29 October alone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"relative group\">\u201cThey leave behind their homes and livelihoods, carrying almost nothing,\u201d said a UN humanitarian coordinator, adding that insecurity along escape routes has made aid delivery nearly impossible.<\/p>\n<p class=\"relative group\">Further south, the situation in North Kordofan State is also deteriorating rapidly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"relative group\">According to the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), 36,000 people have been displaced from Bara town, north of the state capital El Obeid, following RSF advances.<\/p>\n<p class=\"relative group\">Reports have emerged of five Sudanese Red Crescent volunteers being summarily executed and at least 25 women gang-raped when RSF fighters stormed a shelter for displaced families near El Fasher University.<\/p>\n<p class=\"relative group\">International aid agencies have condemned what M\u00e9decins Sans Fronti\u00e8res (MSF) calls \u201cmass atrocities\u201d against civilians. <\/p>\n<p class=\"relative group\">In a recent appeal, MSF described hospitals overwhelmed with gunshot victims and children dying from malnutrition and untreated infections.<\/p>\n<p class=\"relative group\">More than 12 million Sudanese have now been displaced since the conflict erupted in April 2023 \u2014 the world\u2019s largest displacement crisis in UN history.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Sudan, 1 November 2025 &#8211;
