Multiple objections have been submitted to a series of planning applications for the conversion of properties in Wigan<\/a> into shared housing \u2013 known as HMOs.<\/p>\n Since July, conversions of family homes into Houses of Multiple Occupation across the entire borough require planning permission as a result of an outcry in the town against what some say are too many such properties.<\/p>\n Known as an Article 4 direction, prior to July, only conversions in the Leigh and Swinley areas needed planning consent.<\/p>\n To see planning applications; traffic and road diversions and layout changes; and more, visit the Public Notices Portal <\/strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Now, a number of such submissions have appeared on the Wigan council planning portal.<\/p>\n A retrospective application has been tabled for a property to house five people on Mabel Street in Pemberton, against which 14 objections have been lodged.<\/p>\n A further four letters of objection have been sent, requesting that an application for a property on Ormskirk Road, which would accommodate five people, be refused.<\/p>\n Join the Manchester Evening News WhatsApp group <\/strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Join our Court and Crime WhatsApp group <\/strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n One objection has been received against a request for a certificate of lawful development for the existing use of a property as a four-bed HMO on City Road, which is also in the Pemberton area.<\/p>\n Another five people have objected to the change of use of a five-bedroom house in Frog Lane, in the Standish and Haigh area of Wigan, to accommodate five people.<\/p>\n
