After Prince Andrew was stripped of his royal titles<\/a> earlier this week, new details about the bombshell decision are emerging. <\/p>\n Although it was ultimately King Charles\u2019 choice to take action against his brother \u2014 who will now go by Andrew Mountbatten Windsor \u2014 the monarch is said to have been supported by the rest of the royal family. <\/p>\n Andrew attends the Sunday Service at the Royal Chapel of All Saints in 2021. Getty Images<\/p>\n A source close to the royals told People<\/a> that they \u201csensed a female touch\u201d in the Palace\u2019s official statement, released on Thursday. <\/p>\n That led to speculation that Queen Camilla and Princess Kate had a hand in the decision to strip Andrew of his honors. <\/p>\n \u201cHis Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew,\u201d the letter from Buckingham Palace read. <\/p>\n \u201cPrince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence,\u201d the statement continued. <\/p>\n \u201cFormal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation. These censures are deemed necessary, even though he continues to deny the allegations against him.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cTheir Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.\u201d<\/p>\n The last part of the message referenced sexual misconduct<\/a> allegations against Andrew. But he wouldn\u2019t have wanted to make that decision.
