Getty Images<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_6-0\">A source close to the royals told <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/how-kate-middleton-queen-camilla-part-of-king-charles-decision-strip-prince-andrew-royal-titles-11841396\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">People<\/a> that they \u201csensed a female touch\u201d in the Palace\u2019s official statement, released on Thursday. <\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_6-0\">That led to speculation that Queen Camilla and Princess Kate had a hand in the decision to strip Andrew of his honors. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew,\u201d the letter from Buckingham Palace read. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cPrince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence,\u201d the statement continued.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cFormal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation. These censures are deemed necessary, even though he continues to deny the allegations against him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTheir Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The last part of the message<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/20\/world-news\/police-investigating-claims-prince-andrew-asked-bodyguard-for-dirt-on-virginia-giuffre\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> referenced sexual misconduct<\/a> allegations against Andrew. AP<\/p>\n<p>The family is \u201cdefinitely looking to the future,\u201d the source continued to People. \u201cThis could all be part of that.\u00a0William and Catherine\u00a0are moving soon, and all their comments have been about looking to the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_35-0\">Despite King Charles and Andrew allegedly not being close, the source said: \u201c[Andrew] is his brother, and he will feel some care and affection and concern for him. But he wouldn\u2019t have wanted to make that decision. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/17\/world-news\/prince-andrew-announces-hes-giving-up-royal-duke-of-york-title\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Andrew\u2019s previous statement<\/a>, made several weeks ago, where he announced he was giving up his Duke of York title and honors, did not mention the victims or survivors.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/17\/world-news\/sarah-ferguson-standing-by-prince-andrew-after-both-lose-royal-titles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sarah Ferguson, Andrew\u2019s ex-wife<\/a>\u00a0and the mother of his two children, will also move out of Royal Lodge, where she had been living despite the couple being divorced since 1996.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew did not object to the King\u2019s decision, and the British government also supports the move, per BBC News.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/28\/entertainment\/prince-william-threatened-to-strip-beatrice-eugenie-titles-if-prince-andrew-didnt-leave-royal-lodge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice will retain their titles<\/a>, the outlet noted.<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/30\/world-news\/prince-andrew-to-be-stripped-of-prince-title-buckingham-palace\/#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"It\u2019s turning out to be a war of the Windsors.
