A wide “do not travel” warning has been issued after multiple people were stabbed on a train in Cambridgeshire<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The British Transport Police (BTP) and Cambridgeshire Constabulary were called to the incident that took place in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, on Saturday evening (November 1) at around 7:39pm.<\/p>\n

According to officials, “multiple people” were stabbed in the incident on a LNER service. Two men have since been arrested and a number of people have been taken to hospital.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for BTP shared a statement on social media just before 9pm. Writing on X, formerly Twitter<\/a>, the BTP said: “We are currently responding to an incident on a train to Huntingdon where multiple people have been stabbed.<\/p>\n

“Officers are in attendance alongside Cambridgeshire Constabulary and two people have been arrested. Further updates will be shared here.”<\/p>\n

Since the incident, a “Do Not Travel” warning has been issued by LNER.<\/p>\n

The LNER site says: “The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Stevenage and Peterborough. To allow them to carry our their work all lines are closed. Trains running between these stations may be delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.<\/p>\n

“Major disruption is expected until the end of the day.”<\/p>\n

At around 9pm, Cambridgeshire Constabulary shared a statement on Facebook, which reads: “We were called at 7.39pm with reports that multiple people had been stabbed on a train.<\/p>\n

“Armed officers attended and the train was stopped at Huntingdon, where two men were arrested. A number of people have been taken to hospital. The incident remains ongoing and the A1307 has been closed as you approach the town centre.”<\/p>\n

London North Eastern Railway (LNER), which operates East Coast Mainline services in the UK, said: \u201cWe are aware of an incident involving one of our trains.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur immediate concern is for the welfare of our customers and crew who are on board.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are in the process of gathering all the details we can and are liaising with British Transport Police.\u201d<\/p>\n

Appealing for witnesses, Cambridgeshire Constabulary added: “Officers are working with British Transport Police, who are leading on the incident, and anyone with any information is urged to report this to us online: https:\/\/www.cambs.police.uk\/…\/tell-us-about-existing…\/ quoting incident 495 of today (1 November). Call 101 if you do not have internet access.”<\/p>\n

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: \u201cWe were called at 7.38pm to reports that multiple people had been stabbed on a train.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe mobilised a large-scale response to Huntingdon Railway Station which included numerous ambulances, tactical commanders, our Hazardous Area Response Team and critical care teams including the East Anglian Air Ambulance and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can confirm we have transported multiple patients to hospital. Further updates will be issued by British Transport Police.\u201d<\/p>\n

RMT general secretary Eddie Dempsey said: \u201cI am deeply concerned to hear reports of multiple people stabbed onboard an LNER train tonight.<\/p>\n
