Liverpool youngster Ben Doak has confirmed he will not play again this season in his latest post to Instagram. In his message the winger, who has been on loan at Championship club Middlesbrough for the 2024\/25 campaign, also hinted towards returning to his parent club.<\/p>\n
Doak<\/a>, 19, had made 24 appearances in the second tier, scoring three goals and providing seven assists, whilst being generally well-received by those on Teesside for his performances. That was before a thigh injury in January required surgery<\/a>, halting his progress altogether.<\/p>\n Manager Michael Carrick remained hopeful of a return before the season is over but now the on-loan Liverpool<\/a> talent has conceded defeat in the race to get back fit again before the Championship closes out this coming weekend. I will be forever grateful and wish everyone at the club the best of luck for the future. UTB [love heart emoji].<\/p>\n The post was liked by Liverpool teammates Andy Robertson, Calvin Ramsay, Jarell Quansah, Jayden Danns, Kaide Gordon, Kostas Tsimikas, Lewis Koumas, Tyler Morton and Wataru Endo.<\/p>\n James McConnell also commented the clapping hands emoji as Boro teammates Dan Barlaser, Delano Burgzorg, George Edmundson, Hayden Hackney, Micah Hamilton, Neto Borges and Tommy Conway all sent messages too.<\/p>\n Boro may feel they could do with Doak’s inspiration after a defeat and draw in their last two matches have left them scrambling for a Championship play-off place. They must defeat Coventry City away from home on the final day of the season in order to leapfrog them from ninth to sixth, but also must wish for Millwall and Blackburn Rovers to lose to make the dream possible.<\/p>\n Even if they were to make the play-offs he would be rushing back to full fitness to play a final part for the club.<\/p>\n During the January transfer window the ECHO reported<\/a> that the Scotland international was attracting interest from Premier League<\/a> clubs, though it was Liverpool’s intention to keep with their loan plan.<\/p>\n Ipswich Town, now relegated to the Championship, had lodged a \u00a316m offer that was rejected and Crystal Palace were named as an interested party.
