Ireland<\/a> centre Stuart McCloskey<\/a> is an injury doubt for Saturday\u2019s Quilter Nations Series opener against Japan<\/a> at the Aviva Stadium.<\/p>\n

The Ulster<\/a> midfielder \u2013 one of Ireland\u2019s standout performers on a difficult afternoon \u2013 picked up a groin issue during the 26-13 defeat to New Zealand<\/a> in Chicago. <\/p>\n

He will continue to be monitored by the medical team, with a decision on his availability expected later this week.<\/p>\n

Head coach Andy Farrell\u2019s squad returned to Dublin on Monday morning and have begun preparations for the visit of Eddie Jones\u2019 side, who are coming off a heavy loss to South Africa<\/a> at Wembley.<\/p>\n

There was, however, positive news on the fitness of Caelan Doris. The No.8 was sprung from the bench and successfully came through his first match since May after recovering from the shoulder injury that ruled him out of the British & Irish Lions<\/a> tour. <\/p>\n

The Ireland team to face Japan will be named at lunchtime on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Over 49,600 tickets have already been sold for the Dublin clash, with only a limited number remaining.<\/p>\n

Ireland\u2019s subsequent Tests against Australia<\/a> on November 15 and South Africa on November 22 are both sold out.<\/p>\n

It was also a bruising game for the All Blacks<\/a>, who maybe got the worst of it. They will be without brothers Scott and Jordie Barrett<\/a> for their clash with Scotland<\/a> at Murrayfield this weekend. <\/p>\n

Scott Robertson confirmed that captain Scott Barrett\u2019s leg laceration sustained early in the win over Ireland has not healed in time, while Jordie has been ruled out after suffering \u201ca bit of a knee and high ankle\u201d injury in Chicago.<\/p>\n

\u201cJordie got a scan today, so we\u2019ll find out a little bit more this afternoon,\u201d he said at the squad\u2019s new base in Edinburgh. \u201cHe got hip-dropped and landed on, and it got a bit awkward there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Their absences further stretch New Zealand\u2019s second-row and midfield resources, with Josh Lord<\/a> and Fabian Holland<\/a> expected to start. <\/p>\n
