People said it was “ridiculous” as huge crowds gathered in the city centre on Halloween<\/p>\n

Thousands of young people took to the streets of Liverpool to celebrate Halloween over the weekend. Clubs and bars in the city centre were packed with attendees, marking one of the biggest and busiest nights of the calendar.<\/a><\/p>\n

Year after year, more spooky events are hosted, luring more partygoers to spend their weekend in Liverpool. But this year reached a new level of scary, sparking scenes reminiscent of the 2015 Halloween, which people previously have described as the \u201cbusiest ever\u201d. Liverpool\u2019s famous Concert Square saw masses gather to party the night away on October 31.<\/a><\/p>\n

Videos circulating on social media showed the popular spot and its surrounding areas at a standstill, as one of the city\u2019s liveliest locations turned into a sea of scary costumes. One video shared on TikTok by @kylef53 was filmed outside of Baa Bar on Fleet Street and showed many partygoers crammed on the route to and from Concert Square.<\/a><\/p>\n

The video has been viewed over 445,000 times and provided an insight into the busy scenes over this weekend. The post was captioned: “Liverpool on Halloween was not it\u201d.<\/p>\n

People took to the comments <\/a>who were caught up in the crowds and vowed they wouldn’t go out in town for a major night out again.<\/p>\n

A user named Paulina said: \u201cNever going into town for a major event again. [I] waited over 2 hours to get home. It was awful.\u201d Monika said: \u201cI\u2019m having a panic attack just watching this\u201d.<\/p>\n

Another user posted \u201cConcert Square is a nightmare every Halloween\/major event.\u201d Liam said: \u201cCouldn\u2019t think of anything worse!\u201d Claire replied: \u201cHonestly this was ridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, some people in the comments claimed Liverpool\u2019s streets haven\u2019t always witnessed crowds as large as this year\u2019s Halloween.<\/p>\n

An account named Helloface said: \u201cI\u2019m gutted that my kids are never gonna [going to] experience what the nightlife in Liverpool used to be like before this happened.\u201d<\/p>\n

This year’s Halloween was the first to fall on a Friday night since 2014. The last time Halloween was on a Saturday was in 2020, but this came at a time when the country was under social distancing regulations after the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n

The ECHO has previously reported on Liverpool’s “busiest ever” Halloween in 2015 and previously asked its readers whether it was one of the busiest nights ever seen<\/a> in the city centre.<\/p>\n

Vicky Evans said: “I was getting the train home from central and the amount of dressed up people aged between 18-25 with great costumes stepped off it was like rocky horror picture show at Liverpool central wish I took some pics.”<\/p>\n

Alison Norris added: “We walked around for four hours looking for a taxi home. In the end we had to wait for the first train home at ten past eight, as did many others. Busiest I’ve ever seen it!”<\/p>\n

Jodie Leigh Gornall wrote: “Waited three hours for a taxi home. Netflix & chill from now on!” Stephanie Dunne said: “Stupidly busy, I was going to work the Sunday morning and it was still busy.”<\/p>\n
