London Bridge evacuated: Police swarm major UK train station after unspecified incident | <\/p>\nPolice descended on London Bridge station this evening as passengers were evacuated from the platforms following reports of a “man behaving suspiciously”. <\/p>\n
British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed that officers had been called to the busy station at 6.30pm, with Thameslink also sharing that police were at the station responding to an incident.<\/p>\n
“Officers were called at around 6.30pm today (November 3) to reports of a man behaving suspiciously on a train from St Albans,” BTP said.<\/p>\n
“The train was stopped at London Bridge while officers carried out a full search of the train and platform as a precaution.”<\/p>\n
“No one matching the description was found and while officers are satisfied there is no risk to the public, CCTV enquiries are ongoing,” the force added.<\/p>\n
Around 15 minutes after the warnings were put out the rail operators confirmed passengers were able to safely use the station again.<\/p>\n
However, trains could still be delayed as a result of the incident.<\/p>\n
Thameslink said: “We are aware that London Bridge station was evacuated for a short period of time.<\/p>\n

“We apologise for any worry caused to customers and confirm that the station has re-opened for safe travel through this station.<\/p>\n
“Some trains may be delayed or their calling pattern altered so please check journey planners or station information boards for updated platform and train information.”<\/p>\n
Commuters quickly took to social media to share their confusion.<\/p>\n
Writing on X, one commuter said: “Thameslink train was searched by armed police and sniffer dogs but they won\u2019t tell us anything (on the train).”<\/p>\n
Another commuter said: “Something going on at London Bridge. <\/p>\n
“Lots of police and people leaving in hurry from platform 6\/7.”<\/p>\n
Amid the speculation, Southern Rail said: “The police have confirmed that it is safe to travel through London Bridge.<\/p>\n
“Some service changes have been put in place which means your train may no longer call at your destination.”<\/p>\n
National Rail has also said that Thameslink services at London Bridge will be delayed until 8pm.<\/p>\n

Between Bedford and Gatwick Airport \/ Three Bridges \/ East Grinstead \/ Brighton, and between Cambridge and Brighton, and between Luton and Rainham (Kent) \/ Gatwick Airport \/ Three Bridges, and between West Hampstead Thameslink \/ Kentish Town \/ London Blackfriars and Rainham (Kent), and between Peterborough \/ London Bridge and Horsham, and between West Hampstead Thameslink \/ London Bridge and East Grinstead, and between Kentish Town and Gillingham (Kent).<\/p>\n

Anthony Williams, 32, appeared in court today charged with 10 counts of attempted murder. <\/p>\n
