One lane remains closed in both directions on the A45 Coventry Road in the Elmdon area<\/p>\n

Drivers are being warned of delays for a second day after a gas leak near Birmingham Airport<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The A45 Coventry Road was closed in both directions from around 10.30am yesterday, Monday, November 3, after a burst gas pipe between Damson Parkway and Hatchford Brook in the Elmdon area.<\/p>\n

In a further update, one lane remains closed in both directions today, Tuesday, November 4.<\/p>\n

Traffic data monitor Inrix said: “One lane closed and queueing traffic due to gas leak on A45 Coventry Road in both directions from B4105 Damson Parkway to Glencroft Road.<\/p>\n

“Ongoing since around 10:30 Monday morning. The road has reopened but one lane remains closed in both directions.”<\/p>\n

West Midlands Roads posted on X: “A45 Coventry Road, near #Birmingham<\/a> Airport (@bhx_official<\/a>) in #Elmdon<\/a> has now reopened as of this morning.<\/p>\n

“However, emergency works still remain, with one lane closed in both directions. Delays are still likely.”<\/p>\n

Gas distribution company Cadent also posted about the incident after their workmen spent all day at the scene yesterday.<\/p>\n

“The gas escape on the A45, Coventry Road, near Damsonwood, was stopped late last night,” it posted on X.<\/p>\n

“And, we were able to reopen one lane, in each direction. For the safety of road users and our engineers the lane closure either side of the A45, Coventry Road from the junction of Damson Parkway to Glencroft Road will remain in place for approximately two weeks, whilst we fully complete the repair to the gas pipe under the road.<\/p>\n

“Craig Hansbury, Head of Operational Delivery at Cadent said: \u201cWe have worked throughout the night to bring the situation under control, working with the emergency services and local authority.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are pleased that we have completed this work without disruption to local gas supplies. Now we start the work to compete a full repair.
