The Scottish Government has introduced replacement benefits for <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/personal-independence-payments\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Personal Independence Payment Link opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Personal Independence Payment <\/a>(PIP), Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for children, Attendance Allowance and Carer\u2019s Allowance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">From November 6, anyone getting PIP, DLA for Children or Carer\u2019s Allowance who moves to Scotland will need to apply for the devolved replacement benefit from <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mygov.scot\/moving-to-scotland\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Social Security ScotlandLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Social Security Scotland<\/a>. From Spring next year, people on Attendance Allowance who move to Scotland will also need to apply for Pension Age Disability Payment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">To minimise payment disruptions, people are being urged to apply for the replacement benefits &#8211; Adult Disability Payment, Child Disability Payment, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/lifestyle\/money\/attendance-allowance-ending-scotland-pensioners-36182128\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Pension Age Disability PaymentLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Pension Age Disability Payment<\/a> and Carer Support Payment &#8211; as soon as possible after the move.<\/p>\n<p>READ MORE: <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/lifestyle\/money\/attendance-allowance-ending-scotland-pensioners-36182128\" data-tmdatatrack=\"read-more\" data-tmdatatrack-articleid=\"36182128\" data-tmdatatrack-source=\"editorial\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Attendance Allowance payments set to end for thousands of pensioners next month<\/a>READ MORE: <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/lifestyle\/money\/benefits-only-people-scotland-claim-36105023\" data-tmdatatrack=\"read-more\" data-tmdatatrack-articleid=\"36105023\" data-tmdatatrack-source=\"editorial\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Full list of benefits and one-off payments only people in Scotland can claim<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">Before applying to Social Security Scotland, people must tell the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) or Department of Communities in Northern Ireland about their move.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">Older people on DLA will also need to inform their benefit provider and get in touch with Social Security Scotland to request Scottish Adult DLA.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">Social Security Scotland\u2019s deputy director Karyn Dunning said: \u201cIt\u2019s vital disabled people and carers who move to Scotland take action to ensure they continue to get the financial support they are entitled to.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">\u201cWe know applying for benefits can feel daunting, especially alongside moving to a new country, but there is an in-depth guide available on mygov.scot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">\u201cOur staff are also here to answer questions and help people apply. We can provide help over the phone, through webchat or through a face-to-face appointment with one of our community-based advisors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">\u201cI urge people not to put off applying. The Scottish approach to benefits is very different from that of the DWP.
