{"id":548520,"date":"2025-11-04T13:21:23","date_gmt":"2025-11-04T13:21:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/548520\/"},"modified":"2025-11-04T13:21:23","modified_gmt":"2025-11-04T13:21:23","slug":"tip-of-nordo-office-is-a-modern-lighthouse-on-copenhagens-coast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/548520\/","title":{"rendered":"Tip of Nord\u00f8 office is a &#8220;modern lighthouse&#8221; on Copenhagen&#8217;s coast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A public winter garden sits at the heart of this cylindrical <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/office-architecture\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">office<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/copenhagen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Copenhagen<\/a>, designed by Danish studios <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/cobe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cobe<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/vilhelm-lauritzen-architects\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects<\/a> and Third Nature to evoke the city&#8217;s historic silos.<\/p>\n<p>Named Tip of Nord\u00f8, the building is intended as an &#8220;anchor point&#8221; for Nordhavn, a former industrial port on the coast of the \u00d8resund Strait, transformed into a contemporary neighbourhood with a masterplan by <a href=\"https:\/\/cobe.dk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cobe<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2265735 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/tip-of-nordo-cobe-vilhelm-lauritzen-architects-third-nature-architecture-office-workplace-copenhagen.jpeg\" alt=\"Summer in Nordhavn\" width=\"1689\" height=\"2364\"  \/>Tip of Nord\u00f8 is a cylindrical office in Nordhavn<\/p>\n<p>Tip of Nord\u00f8 is shortlisted in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/awards\/2025\/shortlists\/categories\/architecture\/workplace-project-large\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">large workplace category of the Dezeen Awards 2025<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The 60-metre-tall building was designed by Cobe, <a href=\"https:\/\/vilhelmlauritzen.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thirdnaturearchitects.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Third Nature<\/a> as a reference to historic silos along Copenhagen&#8217;s waterfront \u2013 one of which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2017\/06\/28\/cobe-transforms-copenhagen-grain-silo-apartment-block-faceted-facades\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cobe transformed into an apartment block<\/a> as part of the Nordhavn masterplan.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2265739 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1762262474_250_tip-of-nordo-cobe-vilhelm-lauritzen-architects-third-nature-architecture-office-workplace-copenhagen.jpeg\" alt=\"Aerial view of landscaping at Tip of Nord\u00f8 by Cobe, Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects and Third Nature\" width=\"2364\" height=\"1773\"  \/>It is designed as an &#8220;anchor point&#8221; in Copenhagen&#8217;s Nordhavn district<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In the [Nordhavn] plan, buildings taller than seven floors are either an existing, repurposed building or a new one strategically placed as an anchor point within the district,&#8221; said Cobe founder Dan Stubbergaard.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our site called for something special, a building that would stand out while still fitting naturally into the harbour. The Tip of Nord\u00f8 does just that,&#8221; Stubbergaard told Dezeen.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It extends the harbour&#8217;s grand, industrial scale into the more compact, mixed-use city fabric. It is both a landmark and a contemporary nod to the historic silos that once shaped the industrial harbour and Copenhagen&#8217;s waterfront.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2265738 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1762262476_906_tip-of-nordo-cobe-vilhelm-lauritzen-architects-third-nature-architecture-office-workplace-copenhagen.jpeg\" alt=\"Facade of windows\" width=\"1689\" height=\"2364\"  \/>Windows envelop the building<\/p>\n<p>Unlike unfenestrated forms of silos, windows envelop the exterior of Tip of Nord\u00f8, drawing light deep into the plan of the building. A combination of six uniquely angled facade elements makes up the exterior.<\/p>\n<p>Combined with the cylindrical form of the building, these windows also provide occupants with &#8220;a full 360-degree view&#8221; of the city and the water.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2265750 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1762262478_492_tip-of-nordo-cobe-vilhelm-lauritzen-architects-third-nature-architecture-office-workplace-copenhagen.jpeg\" alt=\"Office atrium\" width=\"2364\" height=\"1658\"  \/>An atrium sits at the heart of the building. Photo by Sjavit Maestro<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We saw The Tip of Nord\u00f8 as a kind of modern lighthouse \u2013 an open, welcoming place for the local community that also connects with the wider city,&#8221; said Stubbergaard.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The round shape also supports the idea of a democratic workspace.Traditionally, corner offices are seen as the best spots, but in a circular building, everyone gets equal access to light, views, and the horizon,&#8221; he continued.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s about inclusion, transparency, and openness \u2013 architecture that brings people together while blending naturally into its context.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2017\/06\/28\/cobe-transforms-copenhagen-grain-silo-apartment-block-faceted-facades\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"191\" height=\"191\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/silo-cobe-architecture-residential-apartments_dezeen_sq-1-191x191.jpg\" class=\"excludeLightbox wp-post-image\" alt=\"The Silo by COBE\" decoding=\"async\" data-pin-nopin=\"true\"  \/><\/p>\n<p> COBE transforms Copenhagen grain silo into apartment block with faceted facades\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Inside, Tip of Nord\u00f8 was designed to function as a multi-tenant office with 1,500 adaptable workspaces.<\/p>\n<p>It is currently home to law firm Bech-Bruun and the energy investment company Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), with each occupying its own dedicated areas.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2265732 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1762262481_215_tip-of-nordo-cobe-vilhelm-lauritzen-architects-third-nature-architecture-office-workplace-copenhagen.jpeg\" alt=\"Tip of Nord\u00f8 by Cobe, Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects and Third Nature\" width=\"2364\" height=\"1773\"  \/>The atrium contains a winter garden<\/p>\n<p>The heart of the building is a central atrium, containing a ground-floor winter garden and cafe, which opens onto an outdoor terrace \u2013 all of which is accessible to the public all year round.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Occupying such a prominent position in Nordhavn, the building carries a responsibility to contribute to its surroundings,&#8221; said Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects partner Malte Rosenquist.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;From the outset, the ambition was for the building to feel transparent, friendly, and approachable,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;The best way to achieve that was not just visually but by literally inviting the public inside.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2265742 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1762262483_221_tip-of-nordo-cobe-vilhelm-lauritzen-architects-third-nature-architecture-office-workplace-copenhagen.jpeg\" alt=\"Ampitheatre-like landscaping \" width=\"1577\" height=\"2364\"  \/>The landcaping is intended to soften the industrial look of the building<\/p>\n<p>The terrace outside, which incorporates amphitheatre-like seating, forms part of a wider landscape design overseen by Third Nature, designed to visually soften the industrial look of the office.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The landscape design creates a terraced public space where soft level changes, broad steps, and green pockets form a welcoming transition between city and harbour,&#8221;
