This is the brilliant moment Victoria Derbyshire grew tired of Zia Yusuf\u2019s waffle on Newsnight.<\/p>\n
On the programme, Yusuf claimed foreign nationals were the main people who would be affected by Reform\u2019s plan to bring back austerity<\/a>.<\/p>\n When Derbyshire asked if he was saying no British citizens \u2018will feel pain\u2019 from Reform\u2019s austerity, Yusuf said he was on the side of \u2018people who set their alarm clocks before they go to bed.\u2019<\/p>\n READ NEXT: The 5 brutal stats that blow Reform\u2019s austerity plans out the water<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n The comment prompted incredulity from Derbyshire, who no doubt spoke for much of the nation when she exclaimed: \u201cWhat does that mean, what does that even mean?!\u201d<\/p>\n Yusuf said he meant \u201cpeople who work and look at the size of the state and look at how their taxpayer\u2019s money is spent, where they don\u2019t feel safe, where the NHS is not there when they need it.\u201d<\/p>\n Spelling out exactly how nonsensical his comments were, Derbyshire said: \u201cIt sounds like you\u2019re saying if you\u2019re British and you set your alarm clock, you will not affected by Reform UK\u2019s cuts,\u201d <\/p>\n But Yusuf doubled down, saying this was exactly what he meant.<\/p>\n This sparked even more bemusement from Derbyshire, who simply said \u2018wow.\u2019<\/p>\n Victoria: “Are you actually suggesting that there won’t be any pain from Reform’s austerity when it comes to public services?”<\/p>\n Zia Yusuf, Reform UK’s Head of Policy, defends his party’s vision for the British economy.#Newsnight<\/a> pic.twitter.com\/56D2jPTLoi<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 BBC Newsnight (@BBCNewsnight) November 3, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n
