Wayne Rooney’s<\/a> son, Kai, sent a heartfelt message to Marcus Rashford<\/a> after the Barcelona<\/a> loanee scored a spectacular goal. Rashford found the back of the net in his club’s 3-1 triumph over Elche, unleashing a powerful left-footed shot off the underside of the crossbar from a tight angle. Meanwhile, Kai is part of the United academy and harbours dreams of emulating his famous father.<\/p>\n

However, the 16-year-old is currently nursing an injury that has left him heartbroken<\/a>, following a rapid rise through the ranks at United. As he recovers, he watched Rashford showcase his skills in La Liga. After the former Red Devils forward scored, he shared an Instagram<\/a> post from Rashford on his own social media page.<\/p>\n

The England international posted a picture of himself celebrating his goal. In the caption, he wrote: “Home win, good vibes. Thanks for your support. Tieree that one was for you as promised.”<\/p>\n

Regrettably for Kai, many of his recent posts have been less upbeat. When he sustained his injury, he shared a post on social media with the caption “Life can’t get worse”.<\/p>\n

It was a crushing moment as he has shown promise while playing in the United development teams.<\/p>\n

He followed in the footsteps of his famous father, impressing in the Super Cup NI in Northern Ireland, just like the iconic United captain did when he was a budding star at Everton. Unsurprisingly, Kai has drawn comparisons to his father, who holds the record for the most goals scored for United.<\/p>\n

However, Rooney has called on football fans and the media to distinguish between his own career and that of his son. Speaking to BBC<\/a> Sport, he said: “I just let him play. I think they started the competition well, they won 3-0, he scored the penalty and got an assist.<\/p>\n

“So I think he started OK. He just plays and that’s all he’s done during his time playing. I think it’s very unfair for anyone to expect him to go and do all kinds.<\/p>\n

“He’s just playing, he’s a 15-year-old boy playing his football, enjoying it. Of course he gets different attention to a lot of his team-mates but I think he handles that really well.”<\/p>\n

Rashford expressed his delight at his goal against Elche. He stated: “I just try to do the right things on the pitch.<\/p>\n

“Even today, I could have had more assists or goals. Sometimes the decision making to shoot or pass was wrong, but I am going to have days like this.<\/p>\n

“The important thing is always the team and today we won. So I am happy for this. My focus is not so much on the output.<\/p>\n

“If I am doing the right things, I know I will always be able to score and assist.
