(Image: LDRS)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A new hotel at a \u2018landmark building\u2019 in Oldham and the first town centre McDonald\u2019s in Rochdale for 14 years are among the significant development plans tabled in recent weeks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The 15-storey Civic Centre tower in <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/oldham\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Oldham<\/a> is visible from <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/stockport\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Stockport<\/a> and has long been earmarked for redevelopment. The idea of changing it into a 126-room hotel is part of a wider scheme to regenerate Oldham &#8211; bringing 2,000 new homes to the town centre alongside new commercial spaces.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Over in <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/rochdale\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Rochdale<\/a>, a new 24\/7 drive-thru plan has finally been submitted. It comes months after the proposal was first touted by the US fast food giant last summer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">If approved, it would be the first McDonald\u2019s built in the town centre area since the Yorkshire Street site closed its doors in 2011.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Here is a breakdown of each borough\u2019s submitted planning applications this week<\/p>\n<p>Bury<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/0_scobell101.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>The fields in Walshaw are no longer designated as green belt after Bury Council&#8217;s adoption of the Places for Everyone plan<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Fields recently taken out of green belt to become site of 275-home estate<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Detailed plans for new 275-home estate on former green belt land on the outskirts of <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/bury\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Bury<\/a> have been published.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Wain Estates intends to develop the fields close to Scobell Street and Church Street in the village of Walshaw. Arc Invest Property Ltd, based in Edinburgh, is the applicant.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A planning statement submitted to Trafford council says the change of use application will contribute towards meeting national, regional and local planning policy requirements.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Historic multi-sports club set to expand<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">One of the oldest multi-sports clubs in the country has applied for planning permission to build a single-storey rear extension to its clubhouse.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Timperley Sports Club, which has cricket, hockey, tennis and lacrosse members, has submitted the application for its facilities on Stockport Road to Trafford\u2019s planning team.
