have nicknamed the mammoth &#8216;Yana&#8217;Credit: AFP<\/p>\n<p>The creature was first revealed to the public in December 2024, and was described as the best-preserved <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/tech\/33499603\/woolly-mouse-mutant-colossal-biosciences-modern-mammoth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mammoth<\/a> found to date.<\/p>\n<p>Yana&#8217;s post-mortem at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/topic\/russia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Russia<\/a>&#8216;s Mammoth Museum in Yakutsk lasted for hours, AFP reports, revealing the creature&#8217;s eerily well-preserved organs.<\/p>\n<p>Almost all of her elephant-like front is intact, giving scientists a rare window into the past.<\/p>\n<p>The remains of the 3.9-foot-tall body weigh a hefty 400lbs \u2013 equivalent to around two or three adult humans.<\/p>\n<p>Read more on frosty finds<\/p>\n<p>Yana&#8217;s carcass is so well preserved that the entire head and trunk are clearly visible \u2013 and <a href=\"http:\/\/thesun.co.uk\/tech\/science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">scientists<\/a> even located her milk tusks.<\/p>\n<p>Like with humans and their baby teeth, these milk tusks would fall out with age.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We can see that many organs and tissues are very well preserved,&#8221; said Artemy Goncharov, of the Institute of Experimental Medicine in Saint Petersburg, speaking to AFP.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The digestive tract is partly preserved, the stomach is preserved.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There are still fragments of the intestines, in particular the colon.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He added that it was &#8220;an opportunity to look into the past of our planet&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Adorable&#8217; mutant Woolly MOUSE revealed that &#8216;proves&#8217; scientists can make modern-day Arctic Mammoths<\/p>\n<p>The mammoth species that Yana belonged to went extinct around 4,000 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Yana is believed to have died around one year into her life, but it&#8217;s still unclear why.<\/p>\n<p>But our interference has been ruled out, as modern humans didn&#8217;t arrive in the area until between 28,000 and 32,000 years ago, scientists say.<\/p>\n<p>Yana had been encased in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/tech\/8071081\/woolly-mammoths-siberia-live-again\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Siberian and scalpels to cut into the creature, and then analysed samples of her tissue.<\/p>\n<p>And they described how Yana&#8217;s carcass smelled like &#8220;fermented earth and flesh&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>She was found in Siberia&#8217;s Sakha region, encased in frost for 130,000 years \u2013 far longer than the original estimate of 50,000 years.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#\"><img decoding=\"async\" including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/tech\/28641215\/44000-year-old-wolf-could-unearth-viruses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a 44,000-year-old wolf<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/tech\/science\/10104553\/cave-lion-cubs-siberia-starved-crushed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">perfectly-preserved lion cubs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Just last year, scientists found a 35,000-year-old <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/tech\/31759727\/sabre-toothed-tiger-cub-frozen-siberia-ice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sabre-toothed tiger cub<\/a> in the Siberian ice.<\/p>\n<p>But scientists also fear that it could release dangerous pathogens that have been frozen in time.<\/p>\n<p>There are some hypotheses or conjectures that in the permafrost there could be preserved pathogenic microorganisms,&#8221; warned Goncharov.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Which when it thaws can get into the water, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/topic\/plants\/\"
