Officers were called out to a ‘group fighting’ in the street<\/p>\n

A second teenager has been arrested after youths were seen ‘fighting with machetes’ in Wythenshawe<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Armed officers descended on Hollyhedge Road<\/a>, near to Benchill tram stop, after 2pm on Monday (November 3).<\/p>\n

Greater Manchester Police<\/a> said it responded to ‘reports of a group of people fighting’ on the street.<\/p>\n

Witnesses reported seeing a knife being initially pulled out on a Metrolink<\/a> tram, before ‘loads of kids’ were involved in the disturbance.<\/p>\n

Officers arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of breaching court bail, who has since been bailed. It’s understood he had not been involved in the disorder.<\/p>\n

In an update issued this morning (Wednesday), GMP confirmed a second boy – aged 13 – was arrested on suspicion of making threats with a bladed weapon. He has since been released on bail.<\/p>\n

A large police presence was seen outside the shops near Benchill tram stop, with the ordeal leaving onlookers ‘scared’.<\/p>\n

“Someone pulled a knife out on the tram my daughter was on,” one person posted on social media.<\/p>\n

Another added: “K***head with a machete just scared the s*** out of my cousin… fighting with machetes, loads of kids.”<\/p>\n

It’s understood it was reported that two of the group brandished the blades during the disturbance.<\/p>\n

A GMP spokesperson said on Monday: “Work is taking place to identify those involved in this incident and our enquiries are ongoing.”<\/p>\n
