The West Coast Main Line has re-opened after a landslide caused a Glasgow train to derail on Monday morning.<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The incident which happened near Shap, Cumbria on November 3, saw 87 people evacuated from the London bound train.<\/p>\n

However, National Rail<\/a> has confirmed services are back in action after disruption continued into yesterday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Passengers and crew on board the service were evacuated to a nearby hotel with no major injuries after the incident.<\/p>\n

No services operated north of Preston, causing significant disruption across the network.<\/p>\n

According to statements posted on X, Avanti West Coast confirmed all lines have reopened between Penrith North Lakes and Oxenholme Lake District.<\/p>\n

Avanti West Coast services north of Preston can resume, these include Blackpool, Lancaster, Oxenholme, Penrith, Carlisle, Lockerbie, Motherwell, Glasgow, Haymarket, and Edinburgh.<\/p>\n

Tickets to or from destinations north of Preston dated November 3 or 4 can be used, at no extra cost, anytime from November 5 to 7.<\/p>\n

Phil James, North West Route Director for Network Rail, said in a statement on the National Rail website: “Services are now running again on this vital section of the West Coast Mainline.<\/p>\n

“We thank passengers for the patience and understanding they have shown during the very complex repair programme.<\/p>\n

“We have worked closely with train operators to ensure services are running this morning and we would urge you to check with them for the latest information.”<\/p>\n
