Analysts believe some investors are taking profits, especially in AI-related stocks, after US stock indices hit record highs last week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The bosses of Goldman Sachs (<a data-i13n=\"cpos:2;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/uk.finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/GS\" data-ylk=\"slk:GS;cpos:2;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">GS<\/a>) and Morgan Stanley have suggested a correction was imminent over the next one or two years. Meanwhile, it emerged that Michael Burry, the investor depicted in The Big Short and who bet against the housing market before the global financial crisis, had taken heavy positions against Palantir (<a data-i13n=\"cpos:3;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/uk.finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/PLTR\" data-ylk=\"slk:PLTR;cpos:3;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">PLTR<\/a>) and Nvidia (<a data-i13n=\"cpos:4;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/uk.finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/NVDA\" data-ylk=\"slk:NVDA;cpos:4;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NVDA<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Jim Reid, an analyst at Deutsche Bank, said: \u201cWhilst the moves were only one day\u2019s sell-off, the market narrative saw a discernible shift, with a growing chorus discussing whether we might be on the verge of an equity correction.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">\u201cThat speculation has gathered pace over the last month in particular, mainly because the Magnificent 7 has diverged from the rest of the S&amp;P 500, which has revived questions about how concentrated this equity market now is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The so-called Magnificent 7 group of stocks, which includes the likes of Nvidia (<a data-i13n=\"cpos:5;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/uk.finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/NVDA\" data-ylk=\"slk:NVDA;cpos:5;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NVDA<\/a>), Microsoft (<a data-i13n=\"cpos:6;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/uk.finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/MSFT\" data-ylk=\"slk:MSFT;cpos:6;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MSFT<\/a>) and Tesla (<a data-i13n=\"cpos:7;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/uk.finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/TSLA\" data-ylk=\"slk:TSLA;cpos:7;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">TSLA<\/a>), has climbed around 45% in the last year alone, thanks to the excitement around AI.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">In contrast, the S&amp;P 500 (<a data-i13n=\"cpos:8;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/uk.finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/%5EGSPC\" data-ylk=\"slk:^GSPC;cpos:8;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">^GSPC<\/a>) has risen just 5% over the same period, when stocks on the index are equally weighted.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"yf-1woyvo2\">\n<li class=\"yf-1woyvo2\">\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">London\u2019s benchmark index (<a data-i13n=\"cpos:9;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/uk.finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/%5EFTSE\" data-ylk=\"slk:^FTSE;cpos:9;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">^FTSE<\/a>) was only just below the flatline in early trade thanks to its low exposure to tech stocks<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"yf-1woyvo2\">\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Germany&#8217;s DAX (<a data-i13n=\"cpos:10;pos:1\" The digital token recovered slightly this morning to just over $101,000 but it remains down around 20% from its record high above $126,000 last month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Markus Thielen, head of 10x Research, said long-time holders of Bitcoin had offloaded around $45bn worth of the coin over the last month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Meanwhile, Sean Farrell, head of digital assets at Fundstrat pointed out that &#8220;whale selling,&#8221; done by investors with large holdings, had risen recently, paving the way for weakness in the market.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">&#8220;Whales \u2014 they continue to hammer price,&#8221; Farrell said on Monday evening, noting billions in bitcoin have recently been moved from private wallets to exchanges, presumably to be sold.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">CoinGlass said around $2bn in crypto positions were liquidated over the past 24 hours.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"caas-liveblogpost yf-1ebdqmb\" id=\"3e1a134b-29f3-4a8d-b4ae-f4154ab540b0\" data-testid=\"blog-post\"> M&amp;S profits halve after cyber-attack\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Profits at Marks &amp; Spencer (<a data-i13n=\"cpos:1;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/MKS.L\" data-ylk=\"slk:MKS.L;cpos:1;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MKS.L<\/a>) halved after it was hit by a cyber-attack earlier this year which left shoppers unable to buy online.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The high street retailer said its online home and fashion sales plunged more than 40% when it was forced to halt website orders. As well as disrupting its online business, the hack affected the company in-store, leaving some shelves bare in the weeks after it was targeted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The retail giant reported its underlying pre-tax profits tumbled 55.4% to \u00a3184.1m in the six months to 27 September. Computer chip maker Tokyo Electron dropped 4.1pc, while stock in Advantest, a maker of semiconductor testing equipment, lost 7.2pc.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Stocks in Asia mostly tumbled overnight, with the Nikkei (<a data-i13n=\"cpos:1;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/uk.finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/%5EN225?p=%5EN225\" data-ylk=\"slk:^N225;cpos:1;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">^N225<\/a>) down 2.5% on the day in Japan, after a retreat on Wall Street spurred by selling of Big Tech shares. It is down more than 20% since its record peak in October.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Weaknesses in the stock market drove investors to buy government bonds. Treasury yields dipped by a few basis points.
