Martin Brundle has stated he finds it \u201cdifficult to believe\u201d F1 drivers can be friends away from the race track.<\/p>\n
A number of F1 drivers are known to share a strong relationship away from the track before arriving at the track and battling for supremacy.<\/p>\n
Two such drivers who are known to be friends are Max Verstappen and Lando Norris – two protagonists in this year’s title fight.<\/p>\n
The duo had several heated moments on the track during last year’s campaign when Norris attempted to cut down Verstappen’s advantage in the drivers’ championship.<\/p>\n
But their personal relationship has seemingly remained unaffected – a scenario that Brundle has difficulty understanding due to his experience as an F1 driver.<\/p>\n
\u201cI find it difficult to believe you can go out to dinner, have loads of fun and go on holiday together,\u201d he told Sky F1.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd then, as we saw with Max Verstappen and Lando Norris in Austria last year having a race-ending shunt and then it all being fine and going out to dinner again.\u201d<\/p>\n
Brundle pointed to modern technology and its ability to allow the drivers to talk away from the track as a key reason behind the closer relationships compared to previous eras.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut things move on,\u201d he said. \u201cWith today’s social media and communication, they clearly do communicate a lot more.<\/p>\n
