As the solemn day approaches, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.realitytea.com\/tag\/prince-harry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prince Harry<\/a><\/strong> reflected on what it means to be British.<\/p>\n<p>While preparing for his visit to Canada to participate in Remembrance Day events, the prince published a surprise essay. The Bond, The Banter, The Bravery: What it means to be British is Harry\u2019s love letter to the British spirit.<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_8-0\">\u201cEvery November, the world, for a moment, grows quieter,\u201d he wrote. \u201cWe pause, together, to remember. Remembrance has never been about glorifying war. It\u2019s about recognizing its cost: the lives changed forever and the lessons paid for, through unimaginable sacrifice. It\u2019s also about honoring those who, knowing that cost, still choose to serve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prince Harry won\u2019t apologize for being proud to be British<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"684\" width=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/GettyImages-2199267530.jpg\" alt=\"Prince Harry \" class=\"wp-image-991036\"  \/>Photo Credit: Aaron Chown\/PA Images via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The Duke and Duchess of Sussex (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.realitytea.com\/2025\/10\/29\/prince-harry-meghan-markle-titles-prince-andrew-prince-william\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">for now<\/a>) moved to America in 2020, after stepping away from their royal roles. Meanwhile, Harry and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realitytea.com\/tag\/meghan-markle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meghan Markle<\/a> are raising their two children <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realitytea.com\/tag\/prince-archie\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prince Archie<\/a>, 6, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.realitytea.com\/tag\/princess-lilibet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Princess Lilibet<\/a>, 4, in California, far from the aggressive British press.<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_14-0\">\u201cThough currently, I may live in the United States, Britain is, and always will be, the country I proudly served and fought for,\u201d Harry continued. \u201cThe banter of the mess, the clubhouse, the pub \u2026 these are the things that make us British. I make no apology for it. I love it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The royal family has a long tradition of serving in the British military. Harry\u2019s grandfather, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realitytea.com\/tag\/prince-philip\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prince Philip<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realitytea.com\/2025\/08\/20\/prince-harry-secret-tribute-grandfather-prince-philip-vj-day\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">served in the Navy<\/a>, as did his father <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realitytea.com\/tag\/king-charles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">King Charles<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Harry served in the British Army from 2005 to 2015. During that time, he deployed twice to Afghanistan and rose to the rank of captain. Afterward, he created the Invictus Games as an international adaptive sports tournament to uplift veterans.
