{"id":551468,"date":"2025-11-05T21:01:11","date_gmt":"2025-11-05T21:01:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/551468\/"},"modified":"2025-11-05T21:01:11","modified_gmt":"2025-11-05T21:01:11","slug":"commission-weighs-appeasing-parliament-on-budget-politico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/551468\/","title":{"rendered":"Commission weighs appeasing Parliament on budget \u2013 POLITICO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the center of the dispute are\u00a0the Commission&#8217;s plans for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/eu-parliament-budget-talks-ursula-von-der-leyen-epp-finance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">changes to regional and agricultural payments<\/a>, which MEPs claim cut the Parliament and regional leaders out of decision-making regarding budget allocation.<\/p>\n<p>Serafin said he was working with other commissioners with responsibility for this element, which he acknowledged was  &#8220;the bone of contention,&#8221;  on how to  &#8220;address concerns of the European Parliament.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cIt has never been the intention of the Commission to eliminate the regions from the picture. I mean, this is not a coincidence that we do not talk about national plans, but national and regional partnership plans.
