4<\/p>\n ITV News viewers were left concerned over redness in Paul Brand’s eyeCredit: ITV 4<\/p>\n The newsreader and Robert Peston on yesterday’s News At TenCredit: ITV 4<\/p>\n Paul has been the host of Tonight since 2022Credit: ITV<\/p>\n One concerned fan wrote on X: “Has Paul Brand had an allergic reaction \/ hayfever reaction in his right eye?”.<\/p>\n The post racked up five likes, meaning other viewers were likely in agreement.<\/p>\n Someone quickly responded: “His toddler\u2019s grubby fingers xXx,” referring to Paul’s post where he addressed his appearance.<\/p>\n Paul took to his Instagram<\/a> story, to share an update on the situation.<\/p>\n He explained: “For those asking, the dodgy eye is just a product of a toddler’s grubby fingers.<\/p>\n “Hopefully less red tomorrow.”<\/p>\n His post was seemingly prompted by the reaction he got from viewers, with some likely reaching out to him directly to ask if he was okay.<\/p>\n Paul then updated his followers again on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n Sharing a snap of himself out and about, he explained how his eye looked better and not as red as the night prior.<\/p>\n Earlier this year, viewers were left similarly concerned when BBC<\/a> newsreader Clive Myrie’s eyes “drooped” <\/a>during a live broadcast.<\/p>\n BBC viewers shocked as Clive Myrie’s eye ‘droops’ during News at Six and ask ‘is he ok?’<\/p>\n During a\u00a0News\u00a0At Six broadcast,\u00a0Myrie’s left eye appeared to droop<\/a>\u00a0and close up, prompting many watching at home to urge show bosses to get him medical attention.<\/p>\n One wrote online: “I hope Clive Myrie’s OK. A lot of us are noticing his droopy eye.”<\/p>\n Another remarked: “Is Clive Myrie OK? His eye’s drooping.”<\/p>\n While a third asked: “What’s the matter with Clive Myrie’s left eye?”<\/p>\n The star, who also hosts long-running quiz Mastermind, cleared up the issue shortly after on X.<\/p>\n Reassuring viewers it was nothing serious, he penned: “Happy N.Year everyone and thank you all for your concern over my left eye. <\/p>\n “It\u2019s nothing serious, just an infection.<\/p>\n “I did think about wearing an eye patch, but the boss said no! A bit like Long John Silver. He wasn\u2019t having any of it!
