{"id":551791,"date":"2025-11-06T00:28:14","date_gmt":"2025-11-06T00:28:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/551791\/"},"modified":"2025-11-06T00:28:14","modified_gmt":"2025-11-06T00:28:14","slug":"ricky-gervais-issues-brilliant-response-to-offended-lefties-over-banned-billboards-after-furious-censorship-rant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/551791\/","title":{"rendered":"Ricky Gervais issues brilliant response to &#8216;offended&#8217; lefties over banned billboards after furious &#8216;censorship&#8217; rant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ricky Gervais has continued to tear into the easily offended as well as the advertising bodies who&#8217;ve refused to advertise his drinks brand, Dutch Barn, due to the seemingly contentious nature of his proposals.<\/p>\n<p>Over the weekend, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gbnews.com\/celebrity\/ricky-gervais-advert-ban-dutch-barn-vodka-video-rant\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mr Gervais was left fuming at the &#8220;cowardly f***ing c***s&#8221;<\/a> who&#8217;d refused one of his latest billboards from being used on the London Underground. <\/p>\n<p>In a video shared across his social media pages, the Derek star was outraged by the &#8220;powers that be&#8221; that kept banning his billboards, with the comedian insisting &#8220;there&#8217;s nothing wrong&#8221; with several of his ideas.<\/p>\n<p>In one of the allegedly banned ads, the tag line &#8220;drugs this good are usually illegal&#8221; is written under the brand name, while a second encouraged people not to &#8220;forget your stab vest&#8221; upon arriving in London.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"994bb\" data-rm-shortcode-id=\"b7714fcbddc45ef6335472300d7803c6\" data-rm-shortcode-name=\"rebelmouse-image\" class=\"rm-shortcode rm-lazyloadable-image \" lazy-loadable=\"true\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%20513%20841'%3E%3C\/svg%3E\" data-runner-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/ricky-gervais.png\" width=\"513\" height=\"841\" alt=\"Ricky Gervais\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Ricky Gervais has criticised the banning of his Dutch Barn ads <\/p>\n<p> | <\/p>\n<p> X<\/p>\n<p>In his outburst, Mr Gervais also explained how some of his adverts were a lot more palatable for more sensitive and politically correct consumers, but they&#8217;ve been rejected as well.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the bans on his adverts, Mr Gervais returned to X on Wednesday with an update on his drinks brand and how the support he&#8217;s received in light of the rejections has actually proven beneficial.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Dutch Barn billboards meant for the London Underground have been seen by about 100 million people online,&#8221; Mr Gervais began in his latest update.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our subscriptions are through the roof, and we&#8217;ve saved a ton of cash. And some donkeys. Whilst sat in London without his &#8216;stab-proof vest on&#8217;.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Rather than give her attack the time of day, Mr Gervais opted for a different approach.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Oh thanks Narinder for drawing this to my attention &#8211; I\u2019m not sure which one to buy? I can&#8217;t tell you how amazing that is. Sometimes there&#8217;s just nothing wrong with them.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;One that was meant for the tube station, just had me having a drink, and it just said, &#8216;One day, you&#8217;ll be underground for good.&#8217; That was it. They went, &#8216;No, can&#8217;t have that, because it might make people think, because life&#8217;s short, we should drink to excess.&#8217; Who&#8217;s f***ing thinking that?<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Oh, my God. Cowardly, f***ing c***s. But you can&#8217;t win, because, well, you&#8217;re not allowed to say alcohol&#8217;s good for you, it does this, you feel confident, or it makes you feel attractive, which is fine.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I went the other way. There was one advert, I was reading from my laptop, from government websites, just saying about all the dangers of alcohol. They went, &#8216;No, we don&#8217;t don&#8217;t like that.&#8217; Do you know why? So save donkeys, f*** censors, Dutch Barn,&#8221; The Office star signed off.<\/p>\n<p>Since the video went viral, TfL has addressed the claims that it was behind the banning of the billboards.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement to Metro, a spokesperson said: &#8220;These adverts were never referred to TfL or their advertising partners for consideration.
