Britain’s Got Talent viewers were left baffled when hosts Ant and Dec announced that the show had faced a hiccup in the opening sequence when Teddy Magic’s performance was delayed\"TeddyTeddy Magic was due to perform in the first Britain’s Got Talent semi-final(Image: ITV)<\/p>\n

Britain’s Got Talent <\/a>was thrown into chaos when it emerged that magician Teddy Magic’s opening performance delayed the show. Just moments after the show started with a performance from the Tina Turner <\/a>musical, hosts Ant Mc Partlin<\/a> and Declan Donnelly<\/a> announced that young Teddy was the first person to be performing.<\/p>\n

However, the Geordie duo were left scrambling when the stage was left empty. <\/a>Ant announced: “Now, Teddy isn’t quite ready backstage yet…so we’re just going to chat to you judges-” while Dec explained: “We’re going to have a little change of plan.” His double act interrupted: “Just while he gets himself ready and composed backstage.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, head judge Simon Cowell was slightly bewildered by the fiasco as he asked: “Wait, so the act’s not ready?” Dec, who had been ad-libbing confirmed that Teddy needed more time to prepare. Simon later commented that it was “ok” that Teddy needed more time. “It’s fine, it’s fine. If he’s not ready, he’s not ready,” Simon added.<\/p>\n

Simon later added: “You’ve got to be ready. We’re fine,” as Ant declared: “He’s got to get ready.” The show rapidly moved on to the next act after Ant and Dec stated that Teddy will be performing later in the episode. But half an hour before the show was due to end, it was announced that Teddy wouldn’t be taking to the stage at all.<\/p>\n

Dec told the viewers: “[Teddy] wont be performing tonight but we hope to see him later on in the series.” It is now believed that Teddy will perform in one of the remaining live semi-finals, which airs on ITV1 and ITVX every Saturday until the grand final on Saturday, May 31. RadioTimes<\/a> claims that a last minute issue with Teddy’s performance led to producers postponing his act.<\/p>\n

Fans flooded social media with messages of support, and concern, about the young lad. One wrote on X: “We love you teddy. He\u2019ll be back stronger than ever!” And another wrote: “What happened to poor little Teddy.#BGT.”<\/p>\n

A further fan expressed concern, writing: “#BGT Teddy Magic has withdrawn from semi final 1 but will perform in a later show. We love you Teddy, keep your head up little man.” While another typed: “I hope Teddy is ok #BGT.” And a further fan wrote: “Hugs for Teddy, hope to see him at the next live show. #BGT.”<\/p>\n

With the young magician out of the first semi final show, some viewers questioned how the remaining shows would play out over the weeks ahead. One wrote: “With Teddy Not performing tonight, that meant we had 7 acts performing. Does that mean one of the remaining semi-finals will have 9 acts performing, given in mind that Teddy Magic will have to be squeezed in somewhere? #BGT.”<\/p>\n

After Teddy’s audition was initially delayed, viewers were left fuming when dance troupe The Blackouts were delayed due to technical problems.<\/p>\n

They did ultimately managed to perform – leaving the judges and live studio audience spellbound. Judge Amanda Holden was so blown away by the performance that she bopped her golden buzzer to catapult them straight through to the live final.<\/p>\n

The inclusion of a golden buzzer during the live semi final show proved contentious, however, with many viewers left feeling that it will lead to the final being filled with contestants picked by the judges rather than the voting public. Each week, one judge will be granted the power to slap the golden buzzer – while the other contestants will need to rely on viewer votes to go to the final.<\/p>\n
