These included senior representatives from Police Scotland, DVLA and Transport Scotland, as well as DriveAbility Scotland clients.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Swain, CEO of DriveAbility Scotland, welcomed professional delegates to the new home of DriveAbility Scotland. He commented: \u201cWe\u2019ve welcomed many partners, stakeholders and service users to come and celebrate with us. They\u2019ve seen our facilities for the first time and have been very impressed, particularly with our new state-of-the-art vehicle simulator for specialist driving tuition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis new centre is vital for the people of Scotland as it provides more equal access to our assessment services. We are always striving to reduce travel times to our centres, for all vulnerable individuals in society, so they can begin their journey towards independent mobility more easily.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement | Continue story below<a class=\"gofollow\" data-track=\"NTE3LDgsMSw2MA==\" href=\"https:\/\/www.electricmobility.co.uk\/products\/fenlake-fireside\/429\/\" target=\"_&quot;blank&quot;\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"250\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=\" http:=\"\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/EM-In-article-Banner-Fenlake-FS-Sofa.gif\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Founded in 2021, DriveAbility Scotland is the only Driving Mobility accredited centre in Scotland and is the only service to actively reach clients in the Highlands and Islands.<\/p>\n<p>It provides clinically led, \u2018fitness-to-drive\u2019 and mobility equipment assessments, passenger access assessments and driving school services so people can access the right adapted vehicles for their needs.<\/p>\n<p>Now an independent charity, DriveAbility Scotland has moved to enhanced premises to meet growing demand for its services. It can now manage its Inverness and Aberdeen outreaches more efficiently and hopes to develop further outreach to rural communities across Scotland. The new premises has been grant-funded by the Motability Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Gavin Thompson, Chief Operating Officer at \u00a0Motability Operations, the company that runs the Motability Scheme, attended the opening. He added: \u201cThe opening of DriveAbility Scotland\u2019s new headquarters is a great step forward for accessible mobility in Scotland. It\u2019s been fantastic to see the difference DriveAbility Scotland is making for disabled people across the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHearing directly from drivers who\u2019ve regained their independence really brings home why this work matters. These new facilities will make that possible for even more people, and it\u2019s a privilege for us to play a part in that journey.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>William Hendry, 71, who attended the opening, said: \u201cI have been able to continue driving thanks to the incredible team at DriveAbility Scotland \u2013 that\u2019s in my car with adapted controls and on a mobility scooter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I had my first appointment I hadn\u2019t driven for over a year so my confidence was low \u2013 they could not have done any more to relive the pressure I was feeling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey have been so caring and helpful throughout the whole process, I have been thoroughly impressed with their service levels and assessment accuracy.
