Meanwhile, \u201cSinners\u201d added $13.5 million internationally and $58.5 million globally in its sophomore outing. For the second consecutive weekend, Warner has nabbed the No. 1 and 2 spots on international, domestic and global box office charts. It\u2019s an especially promising reversal in fortunes because the studio suffered a rough start to 2025 with the theatrical flops of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/box-office\/robert-de-niro-alto-knights-box-office-flop-1236345946\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Robert De Niro\u2019s \u201cThe Alto Knights\u201d<\/a>\u00a0and Bong Joon Ho and Robert Pattinson\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/box-office\/mickey-17-losing-75-million-theatrical-run-1236342659\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cMickey 17<\/a>\u201d (and that\u2019s after ending last year with the misfire \u201cJoker: Folie \u00e0 Deux\u201d).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cA Minecraft Movie\u201d has grossed $436.6 million overseas and $816 million globally, ranking as the biggest Hollywood movie of the year to date. Top foreign markets include the United Kingdom ($67.1 million), Germany ($33.7 million), Australia ($31.8 million) and Mexico ($28.4 million).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cSinners,\u201d so far, has generated $39.1 million internationally and $161.6 million worldwide against a $90 million production budget. The R-rated horror movie isn\u2019t resonating as strongly at the overseas box office, though it\u2019s still holding steady with ticket sales down just 14% from last weekend. In North America, \u201cSinners\u201d scored a <a data-id=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/news\/sinners-box-office-massive-second-weekend-star-wars-revenge-of-the-sith-rerelease-scores-1236379466\/\" data-type=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/news\/sinners-box-office-massive-second-weekend-star-wars-revenge-of-the-sith-rerelease-scores-1236379466\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">massive $45 million in its second outing<\/a>, the rare film with a sophomore weekend that nearly matched its debut.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cSinners,\u201d which director Ryan Coogler filmed using Imax cameras, has been a force on premium screens. In Imax alone, the movie has added $12.3 million worldwide over the weekend, boosting its overall tally to $20.6 million. Those ticket sales represent 19% of the film\u2019s overall gross.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201c\u2018Sinners\u2019 is taking on the aura of a must-see cultural phenomenon, and the way Imax screens are leading that charge is reminiscent of what we\u2019ve seen with recent cinematic events like \u2018Oppenheimer\u2019 and \u2018Dune: Part Two,\u2019\u201d said Imax\u2019s CEO, Rich Gelfond. \u201cRyan Coogler has clearly nailed the zeitgeist with this film.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tElsewhere, Disney proved the force remains strong with \u201cStar Wars: Episode III \u2013 Revenge of the Sith.\u201d The space opera prequel returned to theaters for its 20th anniversary, grossing a massive $17 million from 34 territories, including Germany ($4.6 million), the U.K. ($2.3 million) and Mexico ($1.7 million). \u201cRevenge of the Sith\u201d also collected $25.2 million domestically for a global weekend total of $42 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn terms of new releases, Ben Affleck\u2019s action sequel \u201cThe Accountant 2\u201d launched with $13.7 million from 71 markets. Top markets include Mexico with $1.5 million, the U.K. with $1.2 million and Australia with $1.2 million. The R-rated film also earned $24.5 million in North America, bringing its worldwide haul to $38.2 million. Amazon MGM backed \u201cThe Accountant 2,\u201d which carries a steep $80 million price tag.
