A major search operation along a Welsh river which was launched after a possible sighting of a body in the water has been stood down. Police received a report from a member of the public at around 9.30pm on Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n
Officers, a police helicopter, the coastguard and the fire service all took part in the operation alongside the River Taff in Treharris<\/a>. Specialist equipment was used as part of the search, but nothing was found in the river and police have confirmed the search has now come to an end.<\/p>\n A spokeswoman for South Wales Police<\/a> said: “We were called just after 9.40pm on Tuesday, November 4, with a report of a potential body in the river Taff, Treharris.<\/p>\n “A multi-agency response was implemented with colleagues from National Police Air Service (NPAS), HM Coastguard and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.<\/p>\n \u201cOur specialist search and rescue team have also conducted a systematic search along the river using specialist equipment.<\/p>\n “Since Tuesday night, we have not received any further information or intelligence regarding any sightings or potential persons in the river.
