{"id":553719,"date":"2025-11-06T21:30:29","date_gmt":"2025-11-06T21:30:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/553719\/"},"modified":"2025-11-06T21:30:29","modified_gmt":"2025-11-06T21:30:29","slug":"first-look-at-harewood-houses-bridgerton-inspired-christmas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/553719\/","title":{"rendered":"First look at Harewood House&#8217;s Bridgerton-inspired Christmas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aiir-c-news-figure__image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/690cb204f40d1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><br \/>\n                                    A first look at &#8216;A Glittering Invitation: Harewood\u2019s Grand Christmas Ball&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"aiir-c-news-article__abstract\">\n            Harewood House has given a first look at its new festive experienced inspired by hit TV show Bridgerton.\n        <\/p>\n<p data-end=\"289\" data-start=\"68\">A Glittering Invitation: Harewood\u2019s Grand Christmas Ball is coming to the 18th-century stately home throughout the festive period.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"698\" data-start=\"291\">Harewood has teamed up with BBC Interior Design Masters finalist Siobhan Murphy, who has brought her signature maximalist style to every corner of the house.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"698\" data-start=\"291\">Working alongside digital installations specialist Tom Le Bon and BOSUN Studio, the team has combined opulent Regency-inspired interiors with cutting-edge projections that bring the fantasy of a grand Christmas ball to life.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"1031\" data-start=\"700\">Murphy describes the experience as a \u201cfeast for the senses\u201d, featuring an ombre 18ft Christmas tree made from 700 second-hand ballerina tutus and over 300 pairs of pointe shoes donated by English National Ballet.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"1031\" data-start=\"700\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/690cb205aac2a.jpg\" style=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p data-end=\"1031\" data-start=\"700\">The shoes have been transformed into pink, ribboned decorations forming smaller rotating trees in the Entrance Hall.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"1534\" data-start=\"1033\">In the Music Room, visitors will be immersed in a Bridgerton-style soundscape of elegant classical music and animated musical notes.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"1534\" data-start=\"1033\">The Gallery will feature lifelike projections of gossiping guests surrounded by costumes from Leeds Playhouse and couture designer Julia Clancy.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"1534\" data-start=\"1033\">In the Spanish Library, a projection shows the Ball\u2019s fictional hostess writing her diary in real time, her voice echoing through the space as Murphy\u2019s handcrafted \u201cbook tree\u201d, made from 200 recycled books, stands nearby.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"1534\" data-start=\"1033\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/690cb20510549.jpg\" style=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p data-end=\"1903\" data-start=\"1536\">Inspired by Marie Antoinette\u2019s lavish feasts, the State Dining Room will showcase bejewelled swans, rotating macaron trees and iced cakes designed by Murphy and Great British Bake Off contestant Helena Garcia.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"1903\" data-start=\"1536\">The table will be set with Murphy\u2019s bespoke tableware collection, created exclusively for Harewood and available to buy online and in the Christmas Shop.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"2148\" data-start=\"1905\">The festive trail concludes in the Servants\u2019 Hall, where it appears the staff have hosted their own celebration beneath handmade paper chains and trees made from vintage cookware. Fireworks projected over Almscliffe Cragg complete the scene.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"2148\" data-start=\"1905\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/690cb20462d97.jpg\" style=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p data-end=\"2418\" data-start=\"2150\">More than 10,000 handcrafted decorations have been created using second-hand items, with the help of Harewood\u2019s volunteers. The event also features bespoke fragrances by DOME, the Trust\u2019s Official Christmas Fragrance Partner, adding a sensory dimension to each room.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"2703\" data-start=\"2420\">Families can also follow a miniature Christmas trail designed by nine miniaturist artists, including Yorkshire-based Michael Robbins and 13-year-old Arabella Duffy. The intricate tiny scenes are hidden throughout the house, encouraging children to explore and discover the details.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"3172\" data-start=\"2705\">Zo\u00eb Hughes, Head of Public Programme at Harewood, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p data-end=\"3172\" data-start=\"2705\">\u201cThere\u2019s nothing quite like Christmas at Harewood, and this year\u2019s celebrations will be our most spectacular yet.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"3172\" data-start=\"2705\">&#8220;Siobhan Murphy\u2019s dazzling, maximalist designs will reimagine the House in true Regency style, while Tom Le Bon\u2019s vibrant light projections will elevate the experience even further, creating show-stopping moments, unexpected surprises, and memories to treasure long after the festive season ends.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-end=\"3375\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\" data-start=\"3174\">A Glittering Invitation: Harewood\u2019s Grand Christmas Ball runs from Saturday 8 November 2025 to Sunday 4 January 2026.
