\u201cThere was no reason for Putin to be shooting missiles into civilian areas, cities and towns, over the last few days,\u201d Trump said in\u00a0a post<\/a> on TruthSocial, referring to an earlier Russian attack on Kyiv that killed at least eight people.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt makes me think that maybe he doesn\u2019t want to stop the war, he\u2019s just tapping me along, and has to be dealt with differently,\u201d Trump said, adding that Washington would consider additional sanctions against Russia.<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s chat with Zelenskyy earlier Saturday in Rome was the first encounter between the two leaders since their disastrous meeting<\/a> at the White House in February. The Ukrainian president called it a \u201cgood meeting\u201d and sounded encouraged in a social media post later in the day.<\/p>\n

\u201cHoping for results on everything we covered,\u201d Zelenskyy said in his post<\/a>. \u201cProtecting lives of our people. Full and unconditional ceasefire. Reliable and lasting peace that will prevent another war from breaking out,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Sunday\u2019s attacks came hours after Moscow claimed to have regained control over the remaining parts of\u00a0the Kursk region<\/a>,\u00a0which Ukrainian forces seized in a surprise incursion last August.
