A member of staff at a caf\u00e9 bar in South Bristol<\/a> has described the ‘frightening’ moment she heard a loud bang and shouting as youths set off fireworks in a street nearby. The incident took place outside the Tobacco Factory Caf\u00e9 Bar on North Street, Bedminster<\/a> on Wednesday evening (November 5).<\/p>\n

Avon and Somerset Police<\/a> were called to the area at around 10pm after receiving reports that a group of youths were setting off fireworks towards each other and buildings in the street. Luckily, no one was injured nor was there any damage to the building but a member of staff at the Tobacco Factory Caf\u00e9 Bar told BristolLive they were left “shocked” by the incident.<\/p>\n

She said: “More of a shock than anything. No one was hurt, no buildings were damaged, but it was very frightening at first as I just heard the bang and then people shouting.” Before adding: “North Street moves on as normal!”<\/p>\n

Police said around three youths described to be wearing black and wearing balaclavas reportedly arrived in the street in a dark-coloured BMW 3 series and another group of youths believed to be involved were in a separate car. Officers attended the scene but were unable to find the vehicle matching the description. Enquiries remain ongoing.<\/p>\n

Neighbourhood inspector Ben Spence said: \u201cWe were called at around 10pm to an incident of anti-social behaviour involving a group of youths who were reported for setting off fireworks towards each other and buildings in North Street, Bedminster<\/a>, at around 10pm last night (Wednesday 5 November).<\/p>\n

\u201cAround three youths, described to be dressed in black and wearing balaclavas, were reported to have arrived in the street in a dark coloured BMW 3 series. Another group of youths in a separate car were also believed to have been involved in the incident, and enquiries are ongoing.<\/p>\n

\u201cOfficers attended and patrolled the area but the vehicle matching the description could not be located. This will come as a concern to residents, but no injuries nor damage to property during the incident have been reported to us.
