An investigation is underway after an Edinburgh Pharmacy was broken into during the early hours of Thursday morning.<\/p>\n
Around 1.20am entry was forced to the Carewise Pharmacy in Polwarth Gardens by smashing through the front window.<\/p>\n
The prescription medicine cabinets were forced open and a quantity of drugs were stolen. The till was also emptied.<\/p>\n
Staff have since cleared the debris and the pharmacy has reopened to ensure that no patient went without their essential medication. Prescriptions were collected from local GP practices, and deliveries are being completed as normal. <\/p>\n
Yousef Khalil, Superintendent Pharmacist and Co-owner,\u00a0Carewise\u00a0Pharmacy said:\u00a0\u201cWe were devastated when we discovered the break-in, but our first thought was for our patients.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWithin hours, our team came together, cleaned up, reopened, and made sure every prescription was delivered. Moments like this test a team\u2019s strength \u2014 and ours showed what true care looks like.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cPolwarth is more than just where we work;\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0a community that\u00a0looks out\u00a0for one another. This incident shook us, but it also reminded us why we do what we do \u2014 to care, to serve, and to protect.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cPharmacies like ours are lifelines for so many, and\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0vital we protect them so we can keep protecting others.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve\u00a0increased our security, strengthened our systems, and most importantly, strengthened our resolve. They broke in \u2014 but by morning, we were back helping our patients.\u00a0That\u2019s\u00a0what true community care means.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Since\u00a0reopening,\u00a0Carewise\u00a0Pharmacy has received messages of support from patients and\u00a0neighbours\u00a0in Polwarth and the wider Edinburgh community.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Mr\u00a0Khalil added that while the\u00a0financial loss\u00a0is difficult for a small business, the experience has only reinforced their dedication to local health:\u00a0<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cThis pharmacy belongs to the community \u2014 and that\u2019s who we show up for every single day.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: \u201cAround 9.10am on Thursday, 6 November, 2025, we received a report of a break-in at a premises on Polwarth Gardens, Edinburgh.<\/p>\n
