{"id":555214,"date":"2025-11-07T13:56:14","date_gmt":"2025-11-07T13:56:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/555214\/"},"modified":"2025-11-07T13:56:14","modified_gmt":"2025-11-07T13:56:14","slug":"alan-brazil-makes-a-claim-about-martin-oneill-and-dermot-desmonds-relationship-after-celtic-loss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/555214\/","title":{"rendered":"Alan Brazil makes a claim about Martin O&#8217;Neill and Dermot Desmond&#8217;s relationship, after Celtic loss"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Martin O\u2019Neill has now tasted his first defeat since returning as Celtic boss.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The opening two matches were all rosy, but given the troubles <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/club\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Celtic<\/a> have had this season, it was only a matter of time before they were brought back down to earth.<\/p>\n<p>That happened in Denmark, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/match\/disgusted-pat-bonner-brutally-nails-celtics-embarrassing-europa-league-defeat-to-fc-midtjylland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Celtic were well-beaten by FC Midtjylland<\/a> in the Europa League, and O\u2019Neill was pretty frosty in his post-match interview.  <\/p>\n<p>While the modern-day manager might tell a few white lies, sit on the fence or provide media-trained answers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/tag\/martin-oneill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">O\u2019Neill<\/a> is going to be straight to the point, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/tag\/alan-brazil\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alan Brazil<\/a> discussed the Celtic hero and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/tag\/dermot-desmond\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dermot Desmond<\/a> on the radio on Friday morning. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/GettyImages-2244856840-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Celtic's head coach Martin O'Neill looks on during the UEFA Europa League football match between FC Midtjylland and Celtic.\" class=\"wp-image-334368\" \/>Photo by BO AMSTRUP\/Ritzau Scanpix\/AFP via Getty ImagesMartin O\u2019Neill and Dermot Desmond\u2019s relationship <\/p>\n<p>One of the things <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/news\/martin-oneill-superbly-kept-his-cool-during-tnt-sports-reporters-shambolic-next-celtic-manager-interrogation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">O\u2019Neill said in his post-match interview<\/a>, regarding his future, is that \u2018I just want to be told when my time is up.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>That was relayed to Brazil on talkSPORT, but he thinks the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/club\/celtic-manager\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Celtic manager<\/a> \u2018knows exactly what\u2019s going on\u2019, because of his strong relationship with Desmond.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Shebahn Aherne:<\/strong> \u201cMartin O\u2019Neill, after the defeat, 3-1 to FC Midtjylland, was asked by the reporter. She said, \u2018Are you having discussions with the board about how long you are going to be there?\u2019 <\/p>\n<p>He said, \u2018No, I just want to be told when my time is up,&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brazil:<\/strong> \u201cDermot\u2019s his mate. Mr Desmond and Martin are buddies. So, he knows exactly what\u2019s going on, Martin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aherne:<\/strong> \u201cDo you think if Martin stays, and he can\u2019t turn it around at Celtic. Or they can\u2019t go on to win the league, it would tarnish his legacy at the club?\u201d <\/p>\n<p><strong>Brazil:<\/strong> \u201cNo, no. I don\u2019t think so. People love Martin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Not many saw <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/news\/simon-jordan-reacts-to-martin-oneill-staying-at-celtic-as-he-slams-narrative-around-danny-rohl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">O\u2019Neill\u2019s return as a long-term appointment<\/a>. What\u2019s more realistic is staying until the League Cup final, or until the end of the season. <\/p>\n<p>But whatever happens, former Wales striker Dean Saunders thinks a position higher up at Celtic is probably <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/news\/martin-oneill-is-willing-to-stay-at-celtic-until-the-end-of-the-season\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">where O\u2019Neill should go next<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Dean Saunders:<\/strong> \u201cThey should make him director of football at Celtic. Helping the manager.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brazil: <\/strong>\u201cYeah, yeah. I would go with that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saunders: <\/strong>\u201cStop you from making stupid mistakes. He knows the league. He knows the fans. He knows how far they go, and how much money they have got.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey haven\u2019t got much money.
