Source: EFE.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The new climate objectives of the EU, under the shadow of the Paris Agreement<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/noticiasambientales.com\/medio-ambiente\/a-diez-anos-del-acuerdo-de-paris-avances-insuficientes-y-urgencias-crecientes-en-la-lucha-contra-el-cambio-climatico\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2015 Paris Agreement<\/a><\/strong>, world leaders committed to limiting the increase in global average temperature to below 2 degrees Celsius and maintaining it at 1.5 degrees.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, countries agreed to renew their <strong>climate objectives every five years<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>However, the last deadline to present <strong>plans <\/strong>expired at the beginning of 2025.<\/p>\n<p>And both the <strong>EU<\/strong> and other major emitters, including <strong>China<\/strong>, did not meet the established date for their <strong>climate objectives.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, emissions from the combustion of <strong>coal, gas, and oil<\/strong> continue to cause extreme changes in the climate.<\/p>\n<p>This translates into increases in <strong>droughts, floods, storms, and extreme heat waves<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/COP30-Brasil.webp.webp\" alt=\"COP30 Brazil\" class=\"wp-image-120443\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Alert at COP30: few countries presented their environmental objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To date, just over a third of the <strong>195 countries<\/strong> have formally presented their climate objectives, including most of the EU.<\/p>\n<p>This represents just over 60% of <strong>global emissions<\/strong>, according to analysts from the World Resources Institute (WRI).<\/p>\n<p>The UN Secretary-General, <strong>Ant\u00f3nio Guterres<\/strong>, stated that if the climate plans presented for 2035 are implemented, the projected temperature increase would be reduced <strong>from 2.6 degrees Celsius to 2.3.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurrent commitments still point to a <strong>climate collapse<\/strong>,\u201d Guterres stated in a recent video. <\/p>\n<p>And he added that it is \u201cinevitable\u201d to temporarily exceed <strong>1.5 degrees<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>However, the UN leader noted that this \u201cis not a reason to give up,\u201d but rather <strong>\u201cto intensify efforts and accelerate the pace\u201d<\/strong>. \u201c<\/p>\n<p>The goal of <strong>1.5 degrees<\/strong> by the end of the century remains our main target,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Insufficient progress in the energy transition<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe transition is underway, progress is being made,\u201d says <strong>Melanie Robinson<\/strong>, director of the global climate, economy, and finance program at the WRI. <\/p>\n<p>She cites investment in solar energy, <strong>electric vehicles<\/strong>, and climate financing as examples.<\/p>\n<p>However, Robinson warns that it is not happening with <strong>sufficient speed<\/strong>. \u201cLeaders must agree on a decisive global response to get back on track,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n<p>The expert suggests that countries should reaffirm the 1.5-degree goal, accelerate sectoral strategies for <strong>emission reduction<\/strong>, and clear the path to net-zero emissions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A few
